I was just wondering if anyone had any/knew of any 'Austin Powers' characters for Poser. I found a .3ds of Dr. Evil's chair at Baument's site and felt like making some scenes. ANy and all help will be appreciated!

:) I just got back from the Movies, Goldmember, We need a "Minime" also. If you like this kind of humor, go see it, it is the Best one so far. :) Niles

Yeah Austin Powers 3 was a blast! I laughed so much at that movie. A Dr. Evil figure eh? Well that could be next on my list for michael figures since my Darth Maul is done hehe

I have been dying to try to do one, but the big problem with both characters is the wardrobe and Austins hair. I have been keeping my eye out for a mop top style, but none are to be found. =(

bikermouse ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 1:59 AM

Cromwell: Hey if you can model the character sans hair, That's a great start. MinnieMe! Yeees.

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 6:07 AM

I must be the only person here who hasn't seen any of them films, my other half doesn't like comedies so I miss out on a lot of good films :( Rob

bikermouse ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 6:13 AM

Hey I haven't seen them either. Just what they post in the comercials and the like. MinnieMeMee! Nooo.

oh Behave! hehehe, the ads are good :) comedy in my house is treated like porn, hide it till after everyone goes to bed. Rob

Staby ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 7:37 AM

Well, no other character would benefit more that this from Poser 5 and the new hair system... :)

Cromwell1 ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 2:24 PM

Well...sort of...the thing about the face designer in P5 will be mainly effective if you have a profile and front-on shot. Most celeb pics are done at different angles which make it a little difficult. Now for the help...I am working on this, but I am having trouble finding decent Austin Powers, Dr Evil and Mike Myers pics. Any help would be appreciated if some kind folks would help me find some decent sized and quality pics of any of the 3. I have a few decent shots, but not good enough to really help as well as I need. I have done a few hrs of research and not came up with much. Just pm me if you find anything. Thanks. I will show my progress so far in a little while...

Ashayne ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 3:11 PM

try searching for the Austin Powersaction figures by TOdd McFarlane.Maybe you can find someone with the figures and a digital camera, and then any angle is possble. The figures are rather good renderings of the actors...

Ok...now this is an initial render. It is not anywhere near finished. Lots of work to do still and it will take time (heck, it took 30+ hrs to get my Nikki Cox character to look like her =P ). I am using millenium teeth for the teeth since they had the correct crooked tooth. however, I did have to make an overbite morph for it. Clothes were just default poser clothes with wild colors thrown on...

kbade ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 6:31 PM

I'm pretty sure that Ming has a caricature AP "Spy" at her site, but I'm not sure if it's poserized. Plus, there would probably be a cost issue.

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 7:06 PM

c1rcle, you are not alone. I haven't seen any of them, except for a short excerpt forced upon me while I waited for the people to load up the bigscreen Mitsu we ordered for our bedroom...and that was the first one. Those 10 or 15 tortuous minutes convinced me of the truth in what P T Barnum said. Of course, I'm too old for that genre, I suspect. A few recommendations to get your significant other off her comedy boycott (and by ALL means, not listing the best, just a few that come to mind): Older stuff: "The Party" (Peter Sellers). Or "Being There" (Peter Sellers again, but more of a satire/comedy). "Blazing Saddles", "Paint Your Wagon". Newer than older stuff: "Caddyshack". Recent stuff: "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels", and "Snatch". Oh, and in a class of its own, "Beetlejuice".

bikermouse ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 8:09 PM

some other stuff: Old "mature" audience comedy full length cartoons "Wizards" "Heavy Metal" (?) "Fritz the cat" funny stuff: "the Outlaw" Arnold Swartzaneger(sp) Kirk Douglas any movie with Clint and Clyde in it. Bandits of the Sierra Madre - with Fred C. Dobbs(aka Humphrey Bogart)

Chuck, you're never too old to laugh. I'm a baby boomer, having spent my teens in the 60's, and I'm looking forward to the new Austin Powers film. I loved the others. Melanie

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 8:50 PM

Hehe (laughing), Melanie. I guess you are about the same age as me since I graduated HS in class of 69 (no comments, plz). I'll liken the movie series to this: they're like the silly slapstick seen on SNL (Saturday Night Live) these days, but with a bigger budget. SNL had its heyday. With John Belushi, Eddie, etc. Even John Candy and a few others I shouldn't neglect mentioning. But the first 5 years of SNL (and even the ill-fated Fridays) were more in-depth comedy. IMHO. I figure it has its place, the AP stuff. Escapism comes to mind. But, the flare of "Snatch", weaving so many things together that aren't apparent from the beginning...that's talent...if you can understand the REALLY cockney accents...grin. That's comedy art. Not slapstick sexual innuendos accompanied by a thin plot. But like art in the galleries, it appeals to whom it appeals. Some like one kind of art, others, well, others...grin. I guess I just find it bothersome that the 3rd in the series of Austin Powers movies has set a record of being the 5th largest opening weekend of all time. Maybe it has to do with the WTC disaster, ongoing terrorist threats, chemical attacks, etc. Maybe pure escapism is the key word. Or maybe too many teenagers with too much pocket money...LOL. Maybe I should just go see it and have the benefit of more than the 15 minutes I had a few years ago. But, ugh, I think you have to have a certain amount of acceptance of Mike to begin with...grin.

bikermouse ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 10:09 PM

Chuck, got you beat by a year. I think you should see the movie. Hey as a matter of fact let's all meet in 'Vegas and take it in together - we could all make Poser related puns and nobody else would know what we're talking about.

Niles ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2002 at 12:53 AM

Take a poll of the people here that has seen or even heard of Fritz the Cat... maybe you,me, and two others. Hey I loved it! Niles :)

bikermouse ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2002 at 1:07 AM

I think ol' Fritz is due for a comeback . . . I ain't gonna take a pole . . .

melanie ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2002 at 7:43 AM

Hey, I graduated from high school in 69, too. There seems to be a lot of us here. :) Melanie

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2002 at 2:29 PM

As a longtime fan of animation and furry characters in general, I remember Fritz. Both movies are out on DVD now.

Um...getting back on subject... ;) Here is the latest progress...getting closer, but not there quite yet...and the hair has to go... =P

bikermouse ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2002 at 4:25 PM

It's Him !!!

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2002 at 8:16 PM

Well, as I said of WTB's study on Buffy (sigh...), it was so good that no one had to have the name mentioned beforehand so one could relate the image with the character. I would also say this image falls into that catagorey. It's too obvious! Well done! THERE! Back on topic. Sorry.

Ashayne ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2002 at 8:40 PM

i've heard of it. never seen it. it was on 'Flix" just two weeks ago though

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2002 at 8:42 PM

LOL, it's pretty tame, these days. I saw it at a drive-in years (and years) ago. Then, bought the video (years and years ago). It was kinda bold then. I suspect the first "daring" animation made.
