Content Advisory! This message contains nudity, violence

Am I on some ban list?...Did I do something wrong?...or does my art just suck to you that visit here?...I honestly would like to know...If so I could not post here...I am outspoken...I agree the regulars here have beautiful art..goes without saying but when they can't spare a second to say thank you for a comment?...Feels like your in a very rich place and your the underdog... shakes his head No I won't whine anymore...Just curious about my status here...I maybe out of my league and should go somewhere else that would be more my speed.... As of now...Profile of Mother Nature will be my last post for awhile...I truely feel shunned from the "norms here"... I'm sure many others do..As a friend said to me...Your art work is great...People here had me thinking I sucked..He said you know how people are... Thanks to that friend...for his honest opinion of every one of my pictures...even the bad ratings... Sorry to take up your time... For those that render...I'll still look through your galleries it may take sometime..but I enjoy every picture... Well I guess that's it...

One of my teachers once gave me some advice. Best advice I ever got. I'll share, but you don't have to adopt it as a philosophy. "Invest yourself (read your ego) in your work or in the work process, not in the product." When you do so. You: 1. don't expect comments (positive or negative) 2. don't feel it necessary to comment on comments. 3. feel that your work can stand on its own and belongs to the world. I don't understand your feelings. It's frankly hard for me to take them seriously. I guess artists, from time to time, DO go through some type of questionning. It's been like that for ages. I'll put it down to that. Slay the ego. Loose your head and come to your senses. Just create. Regards and luck, Q

heyas; and please don't use 'nudity/violence' tags on your message unless the message contains an image with those subjects in it. you could cruise the chat room(s) and cultivate a clique of friends who all comment on each other's works, but then people would accuse you of having a clique of friends who all comment on each other's works. ;)

Many pardons...for my ego...I didn't mean just comments but critism as well...I find both very helpful in my work... I grew better and noted each of my friends critism to improve my creations...It's not an ego thing to me...it's a learning exsperience...Like the person that gave me pointers on my first mermaid...And I went on to create another going by their advice.... Egos...If you think so...but maybe your reading more into my words than I putting...I simply wanted to learn about what people thought of my creations....like an author would his books...it has nothing to do with egos...it has everything to do with wanted to learn what your veiwers think...so you may become better at what you do.... So take it as you wish..I said my peace.... I won't pretend to know you or judge you by your post..that would be false and cruel on my part...I'm also a writter..and have learned that the readers are important with all their comments or critism...Same goes with art... Best Regards to you too... I take your judgement of me...And accept it...

quixote ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2002 at 9:18 PM

It's not a judgement at all. Who am I to judge you or anyone else? You have to slay the ego to get in touch with your feelings. And what is conveyed by art are feelings, ideas and a "rendering" of our own humanity. "Investing yourself in your work or the work process", mostly means being free to experiment and let the creative juices flow without wondering what others think (loose your head and come to your senses). The only critic that counts should be yourself. Most great writers write for themselves- to please themselves- not their readers or publishers. Most visual artists are trying to find a new way to see and feel things they experience through other senses. We're all interpreting here and interpretation is by nature transilient, changing and moving. So are judgements on other people's work. The only relative constant here is yourself, the work you did in the past and experiences you've gathered. We all choose what to make of these experiences. Thus you are free to feel good or bad about your part in the rendering of reality. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Q

Doesn't matter ...My opinion differs from yours...I respect your opinion...some is based on fact....some just doesn't wash.....Example..... An author wrote a series....is was a hit...yes he enjoyed writing it....it gave him pleasure.... So he completes the series...and moves to the next series of a total different nature.... It didn't take off...it sold basely on name value...but not anywhere as near as much as the first series So the author again picks up his pen....and writes......................... Another series after the first successful series...same series....just some years added with new faces.... Please....this example I use is from a published author.... Don't talk about peoples comments and opinions don't matter....because it pure bullcrap..... A well known published author at that.... He enjoyed writting yes....but enjoyed even greater the response he got ....knew what to write the next time...when his other series wasn't what the readers wanted.... That's fact...Yes we do write or create for our enjoyment..but we also write and create for others enjoyment as well... I am not about to sit here and act like some stuck up snob and lie and says it doesn't matter....just to make myself look good to those who may read this.... In fact I am my own worse critic....Tho I see some good rendering in my creations...I also see flaws... I am impressed that you claim my art isn't creative...or assume so....Doesn't matter...It won't be posted here..in a gallery... I am assuming you don't have a gallery...since you do all your rendering for yourself....and it doesn't matter what people think.... Or shall I wait for the explaination of this..or as my teacher taught me....the common excuses one supplies when they try to be better or look more perfect in others eyes... The same teacher that taught me to listen and respond to comments....without the veiwers or readers....where does that leave the artist and authors?....

Drowning in the shallows of mine own depth.... You read things in my response that just aren't there. We disagree. You want a fight, I don't. Have a great life, Q

Not sure what to say here as I've have the same feeling as everchangingdeity.....but my art aside..what I have seen are images that aren't very good getting many more comments (on occassion)than images that are outstanding. While I've been scanning through the galleries lately, I've also noticed that images that suggest nudity in the thumbnails and the female/female images seem to be getting more views (and sometime comments) than any other images posted. I've seem some fantastic and creative work overlooked simply because the next thumbnail suggested a nude Vicky. Scan through the gallery, see for yourself...what images are getting looked at the most? Creative and imaginative images or the ones with a nude Vicky? The numbers don't lie.

Oh yeah, and don't even think of doing an image using Mike...you sure to get overlooked then.

One of the horrors of a system like this is its anonymity. It's not like you can go to a real-world gallery and see people standing in front of your artwork and talking about it amongst themselves. If no one comments, you start to think no one really cares too much about it. And if this is the only outlet you have for getting comments from people you consider peers, it becomes even more disheartening. Been there myself, Ever. Add into the mix the fact that my images weren't typical Rsity fare -- no naked Vickies, no busty, armour-wearin' Stephanies, no exotic, pin-up Dinas or Eves -- and as such, hardly anyone looked, let alone commented. And I'd be lying if I didn't say it didn't hurt. My stuff was just as good as theirs -- did everything have to have tits to the wind to get attention around here? Then I decided, screw it -- if they want NVIAT, that's what I'll give them... but on my own terms. And I proceeded to post a series of sometimes biting, sometimes not images called the Backstage at Poser series, where sometimes the NVIAT is a whiny little model who complains about being too cold... or an overweight woman who looks like she was shoehorned into her skimpy armour... or a guy. From there, it went to other subjects, all having to do with whatever the latest fad might be or a particular holiday or whatever might strike my fancy. And it got a following. And my gallery got visits. Then comments. And then all of a sudden, (shockingly enough) people started anticipating the next one in the series. But the thing is: it was my own stuff, and it didn't follow the crowd. And it wasn't facile little knocked-off pieces: there was a lot of work put into these, for all their blithe effect. And people started to appreciate that. But it all took time, Ever. I was a member here for almost a year before anyone noticed my work. Hang in there. Keep posting. People are watching, trust me.

I also feel the same way, however, I'm glad when certain people don't look at my pics, most of the "constructive criticism" are from people that have no idea what they are talking about (A chosen few do)....You have to remember this place is one big popularity contest and unless your images fall within the boundaries of boobs and butt, you ARE gonna be left out in the cold. I am to the point I don't really care if these people like my pics or not, I do and that's pretty much all that matters. I do know for a fact you have an admirer, so your work is not going unnoticed,I got an IM saying they loved my male images and also loved your work. Please reconsider leaving, I was gonna do the same, but like I said, if you like it, that's all that matters, these people don't pay your bills. Please stick around, you WIll get a following and I am so thankful to the few that have supported my images. Have a great day and don't let it get to ya, things will never change, ignore it and keep on going The forums are very supportive the galleries are not. Make a few muscular well endowed male images, boy talk about being bashed LOL Again have a great day

Take a look at my "Does this make my butt look big 2" in the poser gallery. It's got a high count but is not what people think. They either laugh or grumble. Kinda wanted to make a little statement there. ;-) It's like everything else a lil ebb and flow. Sometimes you'll get comments and soemtime you won't. I tend to view and comment purely on a whim. Stick to the forums and chats if ya really want constructive critisizm. IMHO Jon
