I've been trying to get a realistic ice cube in Bryce since Bryce 3D. This is a tweak on a bumped glass texture on the rounded cube that comes with Bryce. I also have the blurry reflections and blurry transmissions turned on. I think this one came out pretty good. Opinions?

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Yup, you picked a hard thing to master. Looks good for Bryce.

Nice Ice, I did a Bryce Ice study a while back, ice is definently a bugger to make!

Do atleast one thing a day that scares the hell outta ya!!

Depends on what sort of ice you have and where it is.

hmmm, dry ice might have a vapor to it.

Jimi: The water drops have the same texture as the cube. Should have changed it to a water texture. Oh well, it's just a texture test pic. :^). Everybody: Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.

tjohn, oops dry ice sublimates rather than melts - for some reason I didn't notice the water. - TJ

In the right weather, even ordinary ice cubes give off vapor. Possibly they stop giving off vapor before they begin melting. I've never paid enough attention to notice.

lsstrout, where warm air meets cold you can get a visable vapor over a limited area if the ice is really cold, or there is a sudden and dramatic pressure change but most of the time it's not all that visable. - TJ

also when pouring a liquid over ice you can get a vapor.

TJ, I bow to your scientific knowledge. :) I still think vapor would look neat. Or perhaps a drop down the side. It's excellent as is, though.
