Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 6:57 am)
Hi,
If I understood it right there won't be any updated version of the pro pack. POSER 5 will include it. Hence, when POSER 5 will be released the pro pack will become useless...
According to Steve Cooper, there will be a POSER 5 to C4D plugin with more feature than the current PzrForC4D pro pack plugin... it will allow us to "edit the animated character in the native timeline of the hosting application".
But I don't think that this new plugin will be available soon :
POSER 5 (september 2002) and Cinema 4D XL 8 (november 2002) must be first released. Then we'll surely have to wait a few months (beta testing, bug fixes, updates, etc...). So, I guess that the "POSER 5 plugin for Cinema 4D R8" will be released in january/february 2003.
Of course they could release a POSER 5 / Cinema 4D XL 7 plugin sooner. But that's not how 3D business goes...

krimpr : if they make a plugin for Cinema 4D, they'll make also one for its "twin sister" - Ligthwave !
madriver : I don't know how the POSER data will be included in the "native" timeline... We'll surely get a "poser track" in C4D's timelime for each character. But I have no idea what kind of modifications we'll be able to make.
Moving the keyframes and editing the timesplines : surely. But editing the morphs ? How ? By importing all the morph targets ? that'll make hundreds of additional tracks...

Uh oh... f-curves, what the heck are they? I'm a new Poserperson and aren't really all that well aquainted with it yet; but hope to be soon. Actually four or so months ago I got Lightwave 6.5 and have been working hard at learning to use it. Then a friend showed me Poser 4 and I became curious. Having seen all of these posts and previews of P5 I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waithing to find out if LW can host Poser as I understand PPpack can. I haven't bought PPpack yet as I am hopeful that P5 can do it all! I love my LW, but reading all about character animation is more confusing than studying to be a doctor or a lawyer.
I come from a film background but learning 3d is much tougher. Programs like Poser and C4D make it fun. As I understand it, f-curves, or function curves, are splines within a program's timeline that influence certain characteristics of an animation. Poser actually has something like this in its "graph" menu. Select an object in poser, go to window>graph and you'll get an idea of what f-curves are and what they can do.

Does anyone know if p5 will continue to talk to other apps using the current version of propack? IOW, will all this dynamic cloth/hair/face creator stuff translate to my c4d?
