Anyone have any prop requests? I'm no good at making figures/clothes/other poseable stuff, but take a look at my props in Free Stuff to get an idea of what I can do as far as ready props.

Huolong ( ) posted Thu, 01 August 2002 at 10:25 PM

I'm always pressed for stuff typically found on the shelves/racks of stores, bar stocks behind a bar, clothes at a boutique.

A Calico M-950 9mm machine pistol? Real-world weapon, very popular in sci-fi films for its futuristic appearance. I haven't seen one done up in Poser yet (or a mesh in any format, for that matter).

Hi I really like your "Diner" stuff in free stuff! How about doing a series of "Things found in a 7-11 type convenience store", or something of that nature? You could do the Coolers, slurpee & soda dispensers, Lotto or scratcher counter, Hot Storage case for burgers & corndogs, Stacks of sodas, Ice coolers, Soda Rack coolers, A small counter with candy & snacks on one side & misc snacks, cleaners, toothpaste, soup, etc on the other. Enough stuff there to keep you busy for a year! (Well, you did ask....) Message671414.jpg Cheers! Jerry B (btw - I got a "404" clicking on your link above)

Lyrra ( ) posted Thu, 01 August 2002 at 10:45 PM

Well I'm looking for more futuristic/cybertech/cyberpunk stuff for my still-being-planned 3d comic. Future cars (all price ranges), personal scooters, trendy VR goggles, personal cyberwear, floating traffic guides, small robots of any type, riding robots, robot animals, broken robot bits, futurisitc buildings to mix with the amazing Dystopia sets, futuristic streetlights, streetsigns, stoplights, bus shelters, buses. oh and villian type stuff too - weapons, poison vials, lab, gene lab etc. In short, everything you need for a comic set in a dark future cyberpunk world where everyone who has money lives in their VR goggles.

Moonbiter ( ) posted Thu, 01 August 2002 at 10:52 PM

Your props rock. I loved Drillhead. I like Lyrra's list but throw in some dilapated or ruined walls and broken items. :) BTW I got a 404 with the link.

I dunno exactly what happened. I'm sure I didn't type /link on that... *confused* Well, I symlinked /link to /friv where it's supposed to go.

Okay, so it looks like there's call here for cyberpunk stuff and deli stuff. Brings to mind, in the original (1st edition) Shadowrun RPG rules, the 'starter adventure' in the book was basically focused around the characters being in a Stuffer Shack (future cyberpunk deli) when it got robbed. There are a lot mentioned here I can't do (droids, clothing) unless someone else wants to build the parts into figures.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 12:58 AM

Whee, that's a lot of cool items! uhm.. and a lot of Star [beep] sabers. I also LOVE your comments to the stuff L Now how about doing some REAL sci-fi stuff? As in Star TREK? ;o)

Star Wars is a momentary diversion. Star Trek is a Lifestyle. LOL

Dolphin ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 3:15 AM

LOL... there's no comparison really.. 5 episodes to one million five thousand an forty three series of trek :D.. back to the prop requests :D .. how about a few dog collar style chokers? and some Nu-rock stylee jewellery so we can totally fashion junky our poser models?L

jenay ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 4:36 AM

you have great stuff there :) i love it :) yes more scifi stuff - command consoles - gadgets - machines - i am working on a scifi comic story too ...

Lyrra ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 4:39 AM

Star Wars? Star Trek? Who cares! BABYLON 5! :)

Phantast ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 5:42 AM

Doors and staircases are always useful items. Like your window.

EllPro ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 5:51 AM

Man, as I've told you, your Gamma World stuff ROCKS! I'm with Lyrra on the c-punk stuff. Broken robots would be excellent, as would more everyday stuff like game pads, broken dishes, broken keyboards, shattered monitors, blister packs for holding Michael "action figures," freaky axes, swords and knives, a rulesbook for a certain 4th Edition game set in the far future with mutants and robots... ahem... a mousepad, an IMac with a shoe through the screen, magic items like staves and wands, a goldfish bowl, magazine pouches and a belt, a blackthorn walkingstick... hmmm... anyone else?

JHoagland ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 9:05 AM

I second leather-guy's vote: If you're looking for prop suggestions, my Poser characters would love a Big Gulp™ or, even better, a Super Big Gulp™. Then again, a Slurpee™ would be nice, but not the "fake" Icee™! :) Just take a trip to the nearest convenience store/ deli and make props out of whatever they sell (including the building!). Of course, food props are always good to have. And dishes would be nice also. --John

speaking of star trek this is just a precursor to the holodeck... man! if we were to have one of those things, i dont think most of us would ever leave... by the 24th century, every prop ever conceivable would be modelled and you can load it up with a single command...

_dodger ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 5:11 PM

Psychofish: You should read Otherland by Tad Williams. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Looks like I have to walk up to the deli and make some sketches soon, then finish it out with real deli stuff from memory, like 25 & 50 packets of cigarettes, meat pie warmers, &c!

EllPro ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 8:30 PM

Oh, and don't forget the "junk you find on a Poser Artist's desk." It would look alot like TrekkiGirl's recent stuff (grin). Looking at my desk right now: phone, empty soda botle(s), headphones, empty cup(s) beer bottle caps, some unpainted miniatures, some empty cd cases, a couple of unlabeled Zips (what are on those things?) a tweezer, half a dozen ballpoints, a bunch of votive candles, a box of tissues(...) a Spawn action figure, the 4th Ed rules to Gamma World, a couple of plastic fishtank plants, a box of unassembled Warhammer miniatures, a case with a bunch of floppies, some post-it pads, two knives, a pop-tart wrapper, an empty beer bottle... Damn! I need to clean up a bit... LOL

_dodger ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 8:41 PM

Hmm. I have: a cakebox of blank CDs, a candlestick converted into a CD holder, ashtray, canister of Drum and skins, vegemite (covered), printouts of NURBS tutorials, sketches, keyboad, monitor, speaker satellites, soda bottlecapswebcam, printer, tweezers, cat toy, Gamma World 4th edition rules (must be an odd requirement), MP3 portable, pens, business cards (mine), KMFDM Cd, Intellivision Lives CDRom, umbrella and broadsword (leaned up against), notepaper, pen, eversharp pencil, 1 jewel box (cracked, empty) webcam, tablet, stylus -- wait, where's the stylus... Fuck I am gonna kill those cats.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Fri, 02 August 2002 at 9:05 PM

Oh, boy! Comparison time!

I have:

Satellite speakers, wired volume control, monitor, VCR, remote, flea comb, videotapes, CD jewel cases (occupied), keyboard, and a large pile of computer gaming magazines dating back to 1994.

My Gamma World manuals are shelved with all the other RPGs, and my random assortment of souvenir swords is hanging on the walls, out of the way.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 4:28 AM

There isn't much here which might need modeling. Case for my computer glasses. Bottle of water. Goblet of jelly beans. Napkin with some brownie crumbs on it. Coffee mug (from the Renaissance, but they drank beer from these). Calendar. Backpacker's flashlight (has end for clenching in teeth, useful for crawling around behind the computers). The only photo I have displayed anywhere (4 of us artists in Yosemite - for a dose of reality). Most of the software is logically shelved in the closet (36 linear feet), but some has spilled out, along with books and sketches and such. There are 5 computers plugged in, and another 3 which should operate if so connected. 2 1/2 carcasses to remind the others to work lest they suffer the indignity of being stripped of their innards. Right behind me is the theatrical standee from Lord of the Rings with lots of pointy swords to remind me to work, lest I suffer a dire fate, too. Carolly
