Subject: MAX file to Poser

I have a 3d Studio Max file (with *.max extension) I don't own 3d Studio Max and all of the file convertor programs I see require you to own 3d Studio max. Is their any other method or utility which can convert this file for me to at least 3ds or obj format so I can import this to Poser without having to get 3d studio max or am I SOL? Thanks!

More than likely you are SOL unless you know somebody who has Max. Go to the max forum and see if somebody will convert it for you. If not I can do it if its small and you can e-mail it to me. Also you will have to have an e-mail account were you can receive a large file. ronmiam@aol.com Ron

Unfortunetly, It is a large file. I'm pretty sure this is SOL. Thanks much for the offer!

Its ovewr 5mbs. Fortunetly, I was able to get a friend to convert it for me. Again, thanks to all of you of you who replied.

for anyone else's knowledge, 3dexplorer from right hemisphere does have .max support, and will convert the file to 3ds or obj for you.

When I looked last (I do have the Discovery version of 3d Explorer), from the description, they indicated support for *.max files only if you have 3d Studio Max installed. Right now, the 3d explorer product was renamed to Deep Explorer. I'll look again, but I believe this was correct.

I have 3dexplorer and it does not convert max files properly. Even if you have max. Ron
