Subject: EasyPose Wizard and EasyPose Underground - two tools for EasyPose set-up

Ajax ( ) posted Wed, 31 July 2002 at 7:13 AM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 1:58 AM

It is my pleasure to announce two new EasyPose tools that will be available in the coming weeks.

The first is "EasyPose Wizard", a wizard for KattMan's P-Wizard program. The EasyPose wizard will allow users to quickly and easily set up EasyPose in Poser figures. It's designed to be very simple to use, requiring no knowledge of cr2s, ERC or the way those things work.

The second is "EasyPose Underground". EasyPose Underground will be a stand-alone program, aimed at people that want more control over the process of setting up EasyPose in their figures. It will allow the user to customise the process by selecting exactly which dials they want to install and how sensitive they want those dials to be. It will also include some less frequently used dial types that are not included in the EasyPose Wizard. There will also be some ERC handling options allowing creation at will of new master dials and easy set-up of master/slave relationships.

You won't need to know how a cr2 works to use this EasyPose Underground , but it is aimed at people who have more experience building figures and a basic understanding of ERC.

EasyPose Wizard will be released first and will be the cheaper of the two tools.

As yet I'm unsure of exact pricing by I expect both tools to be in the $20 to $40 range. I would very much like to offer a low upgrade price for owners of one tool buying the second, but that will depend on when Renderosity implements the facility to do that in the store. I may be able to make special arrangements on request for PayPal users.

Stay tuned for updates. I plan to run a little competition with advance copies as prizes as the tools get closer to release.

Here's a screenshot of the Wizard in action. You just choose which body part you want to be the node (ie the one with the BendAll, SpiralBend, SBend dials etc) and choose the two body parts where you want the EasyPose to start and stop. Then you press the go button.

You clever bastards! Gonna have to get it! H:)

doerp ( ) posted Wed, 31 July 2002 at 4:41 PM

Lemme guess... PC only, nest pas?

lalverson ( ) posted Wed, 31 July 2002 at 4:53 PM

very cool would not mind trying this..

Ajax ( ) posted Wed, 31 July 2002 at 5:23 PM

Sorry doerp. I don't have a mac and it's pretty hard to program for them if you don't have one yourself, so yes, both programs will be PC only. At least you'll be able to use the figures people make with them, but that's the only consolation I can offer. Thanks for the nice comments, people.

Oh this is cool! Thanks!

Ajax ( ) posted Thu, 01 August 2002 at 2:53 AM

The full set of dials installed by the wizard is: For the node: TwistAll, BendAll, Side-SideAll SBend, SSide-Side SpiralBend, SpiralSSide For the parts in the node section: TwistBef, Side-SideBef, BendBef TwistAft, Side-SideAft, BendAft I won't be including wave dials, catenary dials or scaling dials in the wizard, but all of those things will be covered in EasyPose Underground. What do you good people think of the idea of having two checkboxes on the wizard to make the spiral dials and the S dials optional? I'll do that in EasyPose Underground anyway, but in the Wizard, I'm mostly trying to keep the thing as simple as possible and I'm not sure I want to clutter it up with extra options. As potential customers, what do you guys think?

lgrant ( ) posted Thu, 01 August 2002 at 9:40 AM

Ajax... This is very cool. I set up an EasyPose figure once, following your tutorial. Not to difficult conceptually, but man, was it tedious. This will make it much more fun to set up! Thanks!!!! Lynn Grant Castle Development Group

Ajax ( ) posted Thu, 01 August 2002 at 4:57 PM

Tedious, yeah, tedious alright...I know all about tedious....don't get me started on tedious...tedious...Arrrg!!...Ahhh!....the mindnumbing overwhelming TEDIUM!........ung....(breath deep, Ajax. You'll be OK in a minute.)...gasp...gasp.... I've put the checkboxes in and I'll have a new screenshot later. I expect to have this thing out to beta testers within 24 hours. I just want to fix a couple of things in the help file.

Here's the new screenshot with the checkboxes. As far as I can tell on my own, this thing is ready to go.

Oh, wow. I wish you had a Mac.

Ajax ( ) posted Sat, 03 August 2002 at 5:50 PM

Yeah, sorry. I'm always careful with my Poser figures to make sure they'll work on a Mac as well, but I just can't do it with a program.

That I was fortunate enough to beta test the EasyPose module for the P-wizard.... AND IT WORKED ON MY FIRST TRY!! Like a charm even. Thanks Ajax, this is an outstanding break-through! Davo

Strangechilde ( ) posted Sun, 04 August 2002 at 5:15 AM

Well, Ajax, your tentacle is an absolute joy. I'll just look forward to the proliferation of EasyPose niceness that this program will engender. :) I just got T'ien Lung the Chinese Dragon from the Marketplace, and my first thought was how much better it would be with Easypose...

Ajax ( ) posted Mon, 05 August 2002 at 1:09 AM

Thanks, Strangechilde. When I get a chance I want to go back and expand that tentacle with some new meshes and other features but it will have to wait a while yet I guess. I expect to see a lot more EasyPose stuff around once these programs are released. I should think we'll see a lot of free add-ons for figures like T'ien Lung. Speaking of which, I'll have freebies up for two of Anton's products, Dragon Skeleton and Magik, pretty soon. The Dragon Skeleton is incredible. I don't think I've ever seen so many posable parts in a single figure.

I shall certainly look forward to tentacle expansions! I love that thing. I've not seen the dragon skeleton but I'll have to give it a look.
