Your first pic is great but I remember the real thing. I watched it on tv as it happened. What I was surprised to see was the amount of debris blown into the luna sky by the rocket of the Lunar Lander. Quite a bit of dust too. While your visualisation would make a good pic for a magazine or book, it doesn't quite make it as a realistic view. The second render is much better but the orbiter is too square and didn't reflect as much. Sorry if this bothers you..... KUTGW The Bryster (Chris)

OK....so your capsule needs an element of 'action', perhaps the glow of the heat-shield as it begins to react with earth's atmosphere? With that in mind.....the capsule in the 'splash-down' pic would have carbon scouring from the heat of re-entry and the parachutes need to be much bigger. Only too pleased to help. ...yeah, I was thinking of surrounding it with some fire...but I just didn't have a flamin clue.I'm thinking of animating it with some Maya particles,rather than putting up with this mediocre bryce upgrade.Now come to think of it,those parachutes make the capsule look like it came out of carnival.

I think you just need to rotate the texture on the parachutes by 90degrees. Chris

...forgot about the volumetrics,anyways,no one really knows or saw from the outside at least how a real flamin re-entry looks,however,that one scene from the movie: "The Right Stuff" got it fairly close,which is what I had in mind in doing this revision.

Well your models look really good. But, I think the renders would be much better if you use more phote-realistic textures of the moon and earth. I'm sure you can find nice sattelite images of earth on the web. You can also make much nicer star-fields with a program called Universe (http://www.diardsoftware.com/) and then paste them in with photoshop.
