Here's my first attempt at making a bleeding wound with metaballs. Any tips?

Oh wow, how'd you do that? I can never make metaballs looks anything like that... maybe I'm doing it wrong, how many did you need and how close did they need to be?

glad to help. needed a bleeding baby for a scene of mine (please dont' think it's some sort of human scrifice or some crazy thing, its' a prophecy of the man the baby will be and the suffering he wil endure) and I just have to say metaballs can be amazingly fun.
