Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 05 2:05 am)
IMHO the beauty of the Poser 5 cloth will be the ability to tailor the cloth without reference to the figures' geometry... no more of this bodysuit nonsense... then drape the cloth over the figures curves using the real effects of gravity. Imagine getting a rectangle of cloth and draping it over the models shoulders or having the sleeves of an outfit actually weighted so they hang properly! H:)
I'm wondering how efficient this type of clothing will really be. The type of clothing Curious Labs showed on the preview AVI was the easiest to make, just a circle with a hole hanging from the opening of the neck and another one from the waist for a skirt. When you have more realistic types of clothing a lot of things can go wrong in simulation software. My experience is with ClothReyes and Max and I can tell you I'm very skeptic the cloth simulation will be too useful in this first release. In Clothreyes you had lots of troubles with skin poking thru the clothing and messing the simulation plus it was very slow. I can't imagine how will it be with support for only one CPU. I don't want to sound pesimistic and I'm really glad we have the clothing simulation but I'll believe our current method of clothing is obsolete after I see more complicated types of clothes being shown by Curious Labs than what they showed.
The hardest part I've heard is to get the clothing mesh computations for self collision parts like the underarms and places where it bends and folds like knees and elbows. I'd be interested in hearing a little bit more on how does Poser simulations compares with the available plugins for Max and Maya, but of course we will have to wait until it comes out. If they do a good work this can be an area to raise eyebrows and start gaining some respect as a professional software package.

How much control we are going to have in the ajustment of clothes? Can we control how tight or loose a cloth can be? It is everybody using "bodysuit-like" clothes? (LOL)
