Just tell us when P5 is going to be released so we can at least sleep a bit better. Thanks why keep us in limbo here---you guys at CL already must know the release date

I dunno. It all depends, really. 1) Do they have a candidate release product ready yet? 2) If so, has it "gone gold" -- meaning, is it ready to be pressed to CD? 3) How long with the press run take? How many copies? They probably have a good idea, but I wouldn't be surprised to know that they aren't POSITIVE on the EXACT DATE quite yet. ;)

I've burned holes through 3 pairs of pants...nearly wiped out my computer... This waiting is getting drastic... Hopefully soon...I have the cash as of 8/16...and if it goes much beyond that, you can bet my wife will absorb the funds somehow..it happens all the time.... I need to hide the $200 somewhere out of her site and mind.

There's a massive amount of effort involved in something like this, and a lot that can happen at the last minute. These folks are busting their fannys to provide us with a neat new "toy" at a reasonable price. They know what they're doing, don't "micro-manage" them. (OK, is my nose brown enough to get an early release yet? :)

um...jchimim...I will personally deliver your pre-release copy... I need 2 things... 1) confirmation you live in a tropical location 2) the cost of the product plus plane fare :)

jchimim ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 5:12 PM

Virginia was feeling pretty darn tropical last week, but actually comfortable at the moment, not even running the A/C at night. Airfare... Guess I'll have to wait, or find some excuse for a business trip... (Actually, considering the state some of the folks are in around here, they may take you up on it!) :)

And you only fly 1st class :)

Hey, I can probably get you at least east of the mighty mississippi... I think it will get tropically hot at least one more week, and we have this great kiddy pool in the back yard....just make darn sure you got that copy of P5 with you...otherwise I'm not filling the pool. And if you want tropical plants, there's a great botanical garden about 12 miles from my house...there's even tropical birds in there for ambience... I usually put pina coladas in my travel mug.

Starlet: Regarding the later release of P5 for Mac... Does this mean the coders are no longer using CodeWarrior? If so, is there a (stable) plan for ports? If not, is it just turning out to be a royal pain in the rear to port to OSX (or are the coders waiting on the September release of the next version)? Tell us, tell us, tell us Mac guys, huh?

Charlie_Tuna ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 8:40 PM

Regarding P5's ship date, it cannot be any later than Sept 21 since that's the last day of summer. Anything after will be a fall release and since all the PR's say 'late summer' it HAS to be out before Sept 21. I'm wondering if us mac guys will see it before the end of the year

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.
