while some of the prints here are quite excellent, I think the price will drive most people away. Some people would only pay that for a custom job, not a digital print. Also, its not really common knowledge that there are prints for sale. And some people wont buy prints just because they find out many of the images are made in poser. Its an excellent idea, I just dont believe its a really high demand market at the moment. A print really has to stick out to be sold.
I'm hoping the publicity at the DragonCon digital artshow will start to bring interest to the prints here. (since I'll be posting a few myself) I have several in my wishlist, but like many other people that price tag is the killer. If there was an option for a $20 matted Fiery print they'd be selling well, IMHO
20 yrs ago I sold prints of my black and white ink & watercolor prints. Word of mouth, and they were at one gallery here. 20x30 un-matted.(signed and numbered) High quality paper and printing. I sold them for $35.00. (one C. geese family and the other two owls.) I made very good money on these. I also had card sets, and I learned you can't compete with Halmark. :O). The packaging cost too much!. I finally put them on sale for cost. and sold every pack. The people who buy prints aren't other artist. You need to have this on the internet somewhere, where the public knows they are here. PS. The price is way too high on most prints!!!

I think Renderosity has to advertise this print feature elsewhere on the net. Most of the folks here are already artists and surely won;t buy someone else's art unless it is exceptional... Regular people, those that do not do computer graphics art, will, for the most part, not have a clue about the source models and stuff for the images...you could do it in Dabbler and sell the thing if it looks good...or even Crayola magic etch a sketch or something.... The important issue here, IMO, is advertising...put links on your site, and anywhere else possible...we need to get Renderosity to somehow advertise this.... I haven't seen an issue of Renderosity mag--are there ads in it for the prints? The ads need to be placed on sites not totally frequented by other artists...Better Home and Gardens, interior decorating sites....Amazon, etc...even Yahoo... There has to be a SEPARATE store just for prints....so otherworldly people can shop at the print store...a direct link with a nice storefront featuring a different print each week...etc etc...

Hi Gang. Good discussion. :) They are selling. The quality is great as well. I hope to run a Front Page article soon with comments from the customers. We are marketing the prints in several different ways. The Magazine, SigGraph, Dragon*Con and in the search engines on the net. We have other Marketing ideas we are looking into as well. We are very excited about this new offering and are very pleased with the direction its moving. Thanks to all the artists that have participated. There is some really awesome working being submitted. advertising is good :) There are many conventions that are good markets--for instance, GenCon is now going on in Milwaukee...they have a big artists section going on....in fact, several folks that are members here, including myself, will be there...selling, looking, gaping, and so forth..

I'm just curious about the new art prints section if anyone is selling or buying. Traditionally, even on sites like ebay with huge traffic, no one bids on poster or prints. While the quality of these are magnificant, so is the price. Is it worth it to offer prints?
