I remember seeing that you can use DEMs and fractals for creating terrians in Bryce, and there was also a nifty program snippet to read DEMs once they're downloaded. Does anyone have any info on this, know of the program, or know where to go to find info. This would be greatly appreciated.

I just render my fractal in my favourite fractal program and import a grayscale version in the terrain editor. You can use the same fractal in coloras a texture. It works fine for ma that way. Several images in my gallery use that technique.

This link should help you with .dem's directly from the USGS without any other applications besides Bryce.

As for the fractals, yeah, I just use the grayscale or even color scale image in the lattice editor and boolean it with other terrain to get the effect.
