Brian Froud`s drawings are a real challenge for any 3D Artist and a kind of charakters i like to find as morphs or new creatures for poser :O))) For me he is one who has a sense for the beings "behind the veil" Here are some links with pictures by Froud: Maybe one of you finds some inspiration or challenge in his Pictures. http://members.tripod.com/m_roxburgh/froud/images.html http://www.cottingleyglen.com/brian_froud.html http://www.worldoffroud.com/ http://andsewitwas.com/browniehats.htm http://westwood.fortunecity.com/giorgio/253/images/pixie.jpg http://westwood.fortunecity.com/giorgio/253/images/bluebell.jpg http://www.magickalworlds.com/mush.html http://www.magickalworlds.com/fae_gm.html http://www.magickalworlds.com/twilight.html Greetings, Webvogel

I have a few of his books. On those rare occasions in these modern times when the fae drop in for a visit, we like to flip through the pages and laugh at them. But there's no denying that he's had a tremendous impact, artistically speaking.

I have his books, well first one I gave to my daughter. I think his best work is Good Fairies and Bad Fairies. In order to do work like his in Poser, you have to be prepared to do a heck of a lot postwork painting. Maybe with the New Poser 5 we can come closer to being able to create the differn't layers, etc. Look at some of the old paintings of Fairies, they are very good. To me it's fun to look at as much work as possible and then try to come up with something of your own. Rena's old Fairywoods had some delitefull fairy's, her textures are to die for. Plus she did what was possible with poser, without post work. Ps PoserWorld picked my French Fairy for the picture of the week. :O) That made me very happy!

My favorite of Froud's Fairy Books is his squashed fairy book... er, pressed fairie collection... the one that you don't dare show children lest they accuse you of being a monster and a misfit. Froud follows a long tradition of artists who paint trolls, elves, and thingies with more gigglie bits than eyestalks but they move too often to count. You are probably all familiar with the chief illustrators of a hundred years ago, but check out John Bauer's work if you admire Froud. Carolly

I bought a book on Gnomes in the 1980s. There was a book on Giants and a book on FAERIES, but I got the book on Gnomes. It was the late Nineties when I happened upon the book on Faeries and bought it. It was a very interesting book since I had planned my second trip to Cornwall for the Solar Eclipse and much of the book is about stories in that region. Obsessed, all I could do was read this book. Working from home meant the work was going undone, so I put the book away and got on with it. With the backlog cleared, I went to recover the book, but were was the book? I had put it in such a safe place that I had forgotten where it was. A search turned up some old unpaid bills and a beta video tape but no book. With the day rapidly approaching when I had had the book for one year, (it's anniversary if you like) and no sighting of it, camethe resignation that I would not see it for a long time. Days turned to weeks as I returned to the work almost as behind as last July. One day short of a year had bought it, and in true Faerie tradition the book reappeared. It was under something as usual. This time I'll be studying it more carefully, or maybe chain it to the wall, least it want to repeat the operation and constantly diss- and then reappear on this day.
