Call it persistance but I'm trying to get my Poser4 model into Bryce3. I am having the worst time of it. I've tried various tutes and I must be missing something. Figure 1 to me, seems like everything but the hair is selected. Figure2 shows the textures I'm loading from Poser4 textures to Bryce v3 and the result is #3. What am I failing to do.

Bryce 3d was funny about texturing.. I always ended up with a gray arm or something until I got Bryce 4.. and that was with poser3 characters... I guess the result with the different geometry of a poser 4 character would give this result.. It's just a bug with Bryce 3, and as far was I'm aware, the only way to fix it is upgrade. Of course, I could be wrong.. I often am. =) Rosh

It should work out for you Looks like the wrong t map or you forgot to flip it on the X. Did you read the tut at: http://mindspring.com/~zonefive/ This is for Bryce 4 but most things are the same. Spike

After looking at it I would say Rotate it on the X. It's in my tut. Spike

I've been following your tute. Rotated on the x and still no improv.Even tried a figure with no hair and no clothes.Tried grouping, ungrouping and still comes out mottled. Double checked the texture and I have it as P4 woman texture. Even tried all the other textures. I have the patch in Poser. Is it because Poser4 is incompatible with Bryce3. Would it make a diff if I used a poser 3 model? Frankly I'm stumped.

Roshigoth ( ) posted Thu, 09 March 2000 at 6:53 PM

I'm pretty sure it won't. I went through this for a while with Bryce 3 and Poser 3 and no matter what I tried, nothing worked. I'm speaking from experience when I say the only way I've found to fix it is get Bryce 4... Until I could afford it, I pretty much gave up working with poser figs in bryce.. Umm.. oh yeah. Before you give up though.. your pic does look like the thing's still grouped. If you ungroup, and don't select hair, the texture may not come in quite right, but see what does come in right.. if the face does, you could just go through the rest and just give it a textureless skin tone color.. but the face is tricky, since it's multiple colors and stuff on one object.. might give it a try though. It seems to me an awful lot of people used Bryce and Poser before 4--I got Bryce 4 last Spring when it came out but I saw Poser figures in the Bryce forum on Delphi quite a bit before then--so they must have been using Bryce 3. Is there not a tutorial for this on Peter Sharpe's site or somewhere? Rita, I'd also try the Bryce forum on Delphi OR the new Bryce forum http://www.wwug.com/forums/bryce/index.htm The Delphi forum is http://www0.delphi.com/bryce/ Did you try Lannie's site for tutorials on Poser to Bryce 3? That's another possibility. Diane B

I'll try those Diane. But something curious. I tried using the textures from Bryce and it works in every instance. Will post one on a new message.

One of my first images was Poser 3 to Bryce 3 and it worked fine. It's the one on my site the "girl on the steps" Back then there were no clothes and we just used targets to make fake clothes. Also in your image above you have a texture in all chanels and only need it in one! How much ram do you have in your system? I ask this because I have seen some strange things happen with low ram. Lots of ram but what do you mean by all channels? Will look at your girl on the steps.

In Image 2 I see A, B, C, D all have a image in it. Spike

Yeh, I got so desperate I started clicking everything. Check out my newest image. I have the textures but had to use the poser3 nude in the program. Just have to figure out how to do hair.

Rita, Just got back in town, but I'm not sure what you mean by the textures from Bryce work--do you mean the Bryce materials and you are applying them in selected areas? If that's so, then I would guess that somewhere your texture either needs to be applied differently. I know even in Bryce 4, when I applied the texture Rena made for the tea set, it had to be flipped (actually I flipped the texture itself and saved it that way, since I had no plans to use it in Poser). I'll look for your other post. Diane B
