Ermm.. perhaps the subject's misleading. Here's a frame from my animation so you get the idea of what it's going to be like. I've finished setting it up.. all that's left to do is render and put it together in a shockwave movie. What fun! So.. anyone have any suggestions on how I should do this? (render to avi, then change to shockwave, or render frames and assemble in shockwave, etc?) Any suggestions about the video idea itself, etc? Lengthwise, I think it's between 20-30 frames... Rosh

I think in shockwave you enter individual frames don't you? I haven't had the opportunity to work with it, but that's my impression.

Umm... it does stuff with sprites, etc. I know using individual frames will work.. I'm not sure about avi's, so I guess I'll be doing each frame.. here's hoping it turns out. =) Rosh

Well.. I made the shockwave of it.. but it's 2.2 megs.. hehe.. I'm gonna try changing the .bmps into .jpgs.. stupid bryce only saves as .bmp when rendering animation.. =( Rosh

Nope.. damn.. that didn't work. It's still 2 megs. Screw shockwave. =( Any other ideas? Rosh

Hmm... I saved it to a java applet.. it's only about 400k... runs fine.. I'd prefer not to use java, but if it's the only feasible option... Rosh

It's a brilliant idea for an animation or a video, with shades of "Metropolis" and a great exploitation of Frank Zappa's use of "Cheese"(*). Longer the better: I'd go to a site that had nothing else for twenty minutes!

It's not that long... it's 27 frames.. about 1.2 seconds. By making it short I'd hoped it would make a small file, easily downloaded.. sadly, shockwave didn't do it.. Java does, but I'm gonna see if I can get it smaller, and also try quicktime or mpeg.. though they don't embed very well.. Rosh

Thanks to jpeg compression, etc, I managed to get the java applet down to 200k.. right in the range I'm comfortable with.. and the quality wasn't affected too badly.. I might make a larger, higher quality one for people who feel like downloading it. =) I'll post it up on my web page and add a link later today. =) Rosh

Rosh, Why dont you make it into an mpeg check out www.kits.clara.net/img/pp3.mpeg that has nothing to do with bryce but it started as a 200 frame avi weighing in at 5.4Mb. I whacked it through Xing encoder and hey presto it came out as an mpeg at 112k. mind you the quality is crap but I needed It to be very small to upload it. Chris-S

I tried about 5 times with Xing.. for some reason it kept coming out empty. If I could get my stupid encoder working then I would put it in mpeg format. Oh well. Rosh
