Subject: Poser 5 UK orders?

Rushy ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 3:59 AM · edited Fri, 27 December 2024 at 1:20 AM

Hi everyone... Has anyone from the UK managed to pre-order Poser 5 yet? When I go to the UK store on their website I can only see poser 4. Cheers Rushy

You'll have to wait a week in Europe.

Hi Rushy, No POSER 5 for me either... I guess that pre-ordering is only available in USA/CANADA... :) Eric

Kelderek ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 4:24 AM

According tp previous posts from CL, European pre-ordering will be possible by the end of this week.

Rushy ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 4:27 AM

Thanks... I think I can wait a week to order! Rushy

lemur01 you can't order till end of this week, anyway I baggs the first place in the queue :) Rob

lemur01 ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 6:30 AM

What's going to be the damage anyway? Am I going to have to sell ANOTHER kid to pay for this? Jack

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 6:55 AM

oops I knew there was something I had to tell my kids :) not too sure what the price will be, but it's not going to be 349. Rob

noggin ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 7:21 AM

If CL had given a little more notice you could have made one to sell Jack :-)

VIDandCGI ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 8:20 AM

Whatever the price you can be assured that yet again those of us in the UK are going to have to fork out more than our fair share of cash. C1rcle - I wouldnt count on it, I buy regularly from around the world and all too often a price that is listed as say $15 will translate to 15 or there abouts which always leaves me wondering, as on average the is worth 1.4-1.6 $'s (just an average folks - not an exact figure)and thats before you add any deliverypostal charges and import taxes if applicable. For a country that wants to be ahead of the game in all fields IT we sure try hard to make it difficult for ourselves.

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 9:19 AM

well VID no matter what the final price is I'm ordering at the weekend, I don't much like paying more than the Americans but that's the way it is right now, maybe when we go Euro (worst nightmare) we can get a better price, not! Rob

praxis22 ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 10:34 AM

I get paid in Euro's, got them in my pocket right now. Nowt wrong with 'em. There is no law that says the Brits can't stick the Queen's head on the other side of the coins you know... The German Euros's still have the familiar "leaf" motif that was on the same denomination Pfennig coin. Ironically it'll make the rip off even clearer, since the Euro is close to parity, (.97ish) to the dollar, which means that $349 will translate to something like 360-370 Euro's, which isn't what Europeans will be paying for it I'm sure, it'll be a good 20-30% more than that, but a lot less than the 40-50% more than the Brits will end up paying for the privilege of of doing so in pounds. Personally I think I'll wait, both to see how much extra we're going to pay, and for the price to drop a little, and for the freestuff to build up. That way you lot can test it first, work out where the bugs are... :) later jb

not wanting to get all political but I'm from England not Europe, for me England has never been & never will be part of Europe, I'll stick with pounds till they try to arrest me. Rob

Yeah, me too, (English) I just happen to live in Europe :) Interestingly enough, Amazon.de has a full price of 509 Euro's pre-order, (link attached) so it'll be interesting to see what they set the European price to on CL's web site. later jb

A quick bit of math later, and if that follows the same % drop for the upgrade as for the $ version and you're looking at 262 Euro's which according to xe.net (link attached) is 167 quid The weekend is going to be interesting... :P later jb

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 12:01 PM

knowing our luck it'll be 549 excluding import tax & VAT. Rob

praxis22 ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 12:25 PM

Nah, I reckon a straight Sterling - Dollar conversion is more likely, 179 quid, I'd like to think that was inc. VAT, but you never know. later jb

Same problems here ... no Upgrade showes up, only the retail. I wanted to order it for germany and the price is Euro 489 for the retail. I'm a little bit confused about the different prices for each country. Lets wait and see what happens. Maybe there will be some price corrections :P Chris

Just had an email from CL sales saying I can put a UK pre-order in as from Friday. Jack

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 1:43 PM

yay Friday can't come soon enough Rob

noggin ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 2:29 PM

What time BST! gotta set my alarm.

saxon ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 4:40 PM

I don't understand why a pre-order can't be done at the same time as in the States. S'pose we have to give them a head start so they can win all the prizes. I'm trying really hard to think of myself as European but it's not working that well. The comonwealth games were so good, that's where the 'family' is and Songat is so diabolical I'd like to see the tunnel filled in...

VIDandCGI ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 5:21 PM

Lol guysgals were making ourselves look like a bunch of xenophobes to our cousins from across the sea.... C1rcle you keep an eye on the Europeans, Saxon you lead a diversonary attack on Poser outlets in former colonies south of the equator whilst I lead the main assault on Poser headquaters ;) The 'Empire' shall strike back !!!

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 5:26 PM

lol just let me have a copy of poser5 & I'll go away & play with it for a while, I promise to keep quiet while I do it too. Rob

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 5:27 PM
