oh, by the way... can you tell the plant generator to use your materials on a plant, to create a new plant? like, can you make it generate a fern, or fern1, fern2, fern3 (your custom ferns)? or do you have to start with a regular plant and change all the textures by yourself?

You just change the original texture coming with plants, like fern,by the one made by Varian(thanks again to Varian);it has a color map and a transparent map for each one .Pay attention to keep the trunk map generated by Vue.I don't use a plant generator:it is Solidgrowth module in Vue.I didn't make another map by myself :i used the ones created by Varian but Guitta(Gebe) has put a tutorial on her site about making new map for plant.I also sometime used PlantStudio and Treedruid with Raydream but plants generation by Vue is the best way.A la prochaine

heya; that's what i meant. solid growth is a plant generator. but it would be cool if you could copy the fern and tell it the new texture you want it to use, and create a new plant by yourself. oh well. :)

Martial, thank you for the kind words regarding my alternative plant materials! :) Bloodsong, you can apply the material to a single plant and save that modified plant to re-use quickly. For several, just grow a single plant, apply the material, then grow another -- etc. It is an extra step, but once you have the material set up for your directory paths, it's really quite a simple step. :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit http://www.varian.net/dreamview/dreamtools/vue/

heya; you mean, save it like as a vue object? that's an idea! thanks! :)

Bloodsong, also you can create 20 ferns, for instance, and change the material for all of them at once using the "material summary" (the button with one black and one white sphere). That' s how I usually do it. Gail
