Hi there, I can't say what it it but you will love it we promise. But speaking of dragons, did anyone notice that Michael Mallen's dragon was used in some of the banners for Dragon Con? Regards, Anton DAZ3D

You know, I think it might be the new dragon as well...with a caveat. Remember that while the gorilla was free, one had to purchase the more extreme morphs (baring fangs, cooing, etc.) and the texture maps. I suspect DAZ may perform a similar marketing ploy with the dragon. No, I'm not implying that's a bad thing. It's actually quite clever and helps both the consumer and DAZ. The "end user" gets a very useful free item, but if they want the extra bells and whistles, then they buy the supplimental material, kinda' like getting a free demo' program with some of the functions locked until one registers it. I think the "free" dragon will contain the standard joint parameters, maybe even Mimic morphs as did the gorilla, but you would have to actually purchase such morph targets like spine length (DAZ stated it had this feature), possibly billowing effects for the wing membranes, extreme jaw postures for those flaming breath scenes, that sort of thing. Then again, I could be completely off my nut. Rebuttals, anyone? Sincerely, Bill

I'm going to stand apart from the crowd a bit. I like Dragons. A lot. I can cover 2 rooms with dragon art and have more art left over. I haven't bought all of the dragon models, but my computer files are bulging with the ones I do have. However, I like Griffins more! If it wasn't for Jellisa and Bloodsong, we wouldn't have any, and we have to assemble these in steps. There are NO Manticores. There are NO Basilisks. (Well, ok... maybe you wouldn't exactly want one staring you in the face!) Centaurs and Pegasi are patched together badly out of ill-scaled parts. (Guys, imagine how the bones/spinal column go together before you put the muscle and skin on top.) Anton has modeled a decent Hippocampus. Although it isn't the way I draw them, it is more than acceptable. Just as there are draft horses and riding horses, it would be wonderful to have a couple breeds of seahorses. We do NOT have a proper Nessie, although Chris's Sea Serpent is very nice indeed and fun to play with. The Sphinx I have is Catarina, elegant but unspeaking. More than Dragons move in the uncommon earth. I haven't even touched upon the Questing Beaste, the Jabberwocky, the Behemoth, the.... I just gave McKillip's "The Forgotten Beasts of Eld" to a special friend (those of you familiar with the work can guess how special he is). Let us not forget the rest of the fantastic animals while standing bedazzled in the Dragon's gaze. Carolly
I think its a dragon also :)

Anton, that's one of the more original pictures of a beastie I've seen! Is that supposed to be a gryffon? It is way cool and appears to be something that could be hybridized from the DAZ eagle and poser horse. Speaking of DAZ... I'd love to take a peek at the freestuff and would hate to miss the new model, but can't seem to get beyond the "Freestuff Gateway" page when I click on the link at DAZ. Anyone else having that problem?
Anton, That is GORGEOUS! And elegant! And gee-whizz wowie zowie! If he ate all of my goats, I'd just stand there with pipes in hand and jaw at my feet in wonder. We need a proper Bestiary. Just like in the Middle Ages. And not everything in it has to fit the list of usual suspects. Thank you for sharing this image of something truly magical with us. Carolly
Bill (Redfern), That is a very interesting concept. Let me see if I got your idea staight. You are saying that we would give away our Dragon model set up for Posing and simple mouth and eye morphs for free (a $59.95 value). Then we would offer our texture maps and extra morphs (and maybe even more) as an upsell for $19.95 sale price (full price of $29.95). That would be a savings of approx. $70. What are you thinking man?;) With something that crazy all we could do is hope that a lot of people will pick up add on pack like the one we offered for the Gorilla. Wow, talk about guarenteed sales! $60 is an amount that warrants consideration, $20 is a no-brainer. So, can we call you Crazy Dan? ;-) Either way, the dragon looks very cool, and Carolly's idea is fantastic.

If it is the dragon, I hope they have the servers to handle all the downloads! I know I will be getting the new dragon, even if it is not the mystery model. Peggy

I know it's early but I'm wondering if anyone has a guess yet. Also post your suggestions for things you'd like to see. Maybe some Daz employees will take a look, you never know. Here's the only clue I know about that I got in a Daz email. ANNOUNCING: *Upcoming Mystery Model: Due to the success of previous Mystery models, Stephanie and the Gorilla, DAZ is excited about the announcement of a NEW Mystery model released soon. It is because of your continual support we are able to offer these great free products, Thanks! Hints: Bigger than the Gorilla. And sometimes those clues are staring you in the face.
