Subject: Looking for some input

I'm working on a video for work and have a chance to throw in some 3D. It takes place in the future, so I'm modeling the set in RayDream 3D (only software I have that can do this kind of thing). I'll composit an actress into the scene using standard video technology (blue-screen chroma-keying), but am working on the background plates. Here's a view looking over the Judge's desk (where there's a holographic projector -- that disk-like thing in the foreground) and out the window. I'm kinda pressed for time, but thought I'd throw this out there for any comments. Any comments or suggestions are welcome! - Chip

Chip, Nice to see you joining in on the discussions! I like the image! Nice work. There are only 2 things that struck my eye and they are very minor. 1) I would, If it were me, add some color to the book bindings. They look excellent. But I would make 5 or so in a row Green and another group Brown just to break up the color. I would group the other colors together to represent sets of books. 2) The colors of the buildings. Since the scene is set in the future that is more than likely the look you were going for. Tans or light grey colors seem more appealing to me than the red blue and green buildings. Other than those minor things I like it very much. I can just imagine the holographic projection coming up from the projector! Good luck with the project. When its finished if you can show it outside work I would love to see some of it. Keep up the good work and I hope to see more images and posts from you down the road. Best Regards, Clint

I agree with Clint on the colors, you may want to mute the backround colors a "tad" so they don't compete with your character when you bring it in.

Also maybe make some books thinner, higher. Since this is the Future, I'd go for different materials for the tables and bookshelf. Since he is a judge, a nice little marble desk or any other kind of minerals. Wood is becoming scarce in our world!!! But just like Clint says, I can just imagine that hologram, ah yes, I can imagine it indeed... come on shake it baby, yeah baby!:)

Thanks for the comments, and anybody else who wants to chime in, please do. As I mentioned, I'm kinda rushed, though, and unfortunately had to shoot the sequences with the Judge TONIGHT.... Because of the short time frame, I had to go with what I had, since I composited her in live while shooting.... Next time, though, I'll have more time. As soon as I get the project edited, I'll post a still or two from it. (I'll have to check with the legal department to see if it's OK to show the judge -- if not, I'll just mosaic her face out....) A note about the books -- I modeled them after the books in the chief Justice's office; he has an enormous set of virtually identical books. Those legal types aren't so much into variety. There's a book on the table next to the little lamp, though, and it has a South Park cow on the binding.... Just had to throw something in. (It's visible in one shot.) I thought about marble for the desk, too, and probably would have gone for it, if I'd had more time to work the reflections of the judge into it. (Could be done fairly easily in AfterEffects, but would take a hell of a long time.) Again, next time. (Oh, and Blade, the hologram is of the judge's daughter.... And you DON'T want to date a judge's daughter.) And THANKS very much for all the comments. Next project I'll be posting more; it's great to get input from folks who really know what they're talking about!
