Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 03 12:46 am)
Poser 5 PZ3 and CR2 files which do not use characters or geometries specific to Poser 5 should be able to be opened in P4, if P5 is like previous versions. There might be issues with P4 being able to read some of the P5 material settings....

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.ย He apologizes for this.ย He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.ย His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
Mapping is deffinately important, I think. I've not yet appreciated 2 females and 2 males yet(P4F, P4M, Mike2, and Vicky2. I've many more free morphs for my Standard Poser cr2s. I'd like to see Curious develop their render engine even farther, before contunuously altering thier standrd figure map. Saved poses just wo'nt keep consistancy. You do'nt want too many dividing your poses up do you? Though I would'nt want to take anything away from an imaginative mind, I enhoy working with my Poser Standard Cr2s very much, and mesh forms with alternate mapping much less. What are some common perpectives on this topic? = )
OK - I'm allowed to say that I've done this and that pose for P5 (as you can read in the downloadable manual at Curious Labs-CL) ... As soon as Poser5 is out I can give you a detailed description about the new P5 Male and Female (poses-experiences etc) but right at the moment you should ask CL - sorry, but as you can imagine I'm bound to a word I gave to CL ;o).
Looking forward to it Schlabber. I'm impatient not only to work with the new characters, but to see what my various Millennium and P4 characters will look like with the new hair, some Putty tool work, and sub-dividing polygon rendering. Of course, I'll be stuck working on my clunky PC until I can get the Mac version :-( but at least I'll get a start on planned P5 projects.

An-I-mA, shadowcat There may be some understandable confusion here. All the figures in the Curious Labs website, advertising and the downloadable P5 manual seem to be the Poser 4 figures. I guess that these renders were needed before RDNA had provided the new figures to CL. If you want to see the new P5 figures you will need to check the Runtime DNA Poser 5 Gallery, or Steve Cooper's "Ruby Tuesday" thread. So far as I am aware these are the only places where the P5 figures have been previewed, and they are fairly distinctivly different from the P4 figures. BillThe P5s are, according to Kupa, all new meshes. P4 morphs will not work on them, nor will P4 textures. But from the images I've seen, they've addressed problems with the knees, elbows, and neck. Insofar as the quality of the characters, just remember that out-of-the-box Vicky is one ugly broad. As with her, it will all depend on what you bring to the characters you use.
There is another thread here on Renderosity that goes into some specific detail about the P5 figures--the look of the face....and the important point is the fact the RDNA gallery images are the default characters, but in the FACE ROOM, there are just hundreds or more ways to tweak the face to look so different. There are also numerous ready made face morphs included on the CD....just a great many dials to fidgit with and of course the face putty feature.... These characters, not looking maybe so good in their default look, can be made to look like anybody you want. I can't find the thread right now, but it is worth finding---it will answer many of your concerns

here's kupa's ruby tuesday thread, and frankly other then the size of judy's hands I like the new figures as is but as was said before, with the face room changeing your charicters will be easyer then ever. I wonder why people expect one model to apeal to everyone?Again, I remind the complainers that Vicky looks like shit right out of the box--it took a lot of after-market wizardry to get her up to speed. The promise is that the new P5 figs will be enormously malleable--a good thing for everyone. As a Mac user, I'll be rooting from the sidelines for all the the tweakers, texturers and renderers--can't wait to see what y'all come up with in the next couple of months.

Any one know anything about the new P5 characters? Are they more detailed? More detailed then Vicki and Mike? Are they more natural when the limbs are folded. I like to set up a slide show of different poses to draw but Poser 4 and Vicki/Mike are not always accurate to draw from.
