Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 6:57 am)
Yeah, I hear ya, EricofSD. I dunno why that is except maybe for the prices in California...but it wouldn't have to be in CA. I figured people would want to go to it and had to work or couldn't afford it. I wish they ALL could go (so I could meet many more). This is the first year I went and mainly because of R'City being there. And I LIVE here.
If you meet Daio, please transmit our best wishes for a happy birthday from all of us who have admired her/his work. Chuck, did you get to play with P5.... OH! how I wish I could have met Syyd, Traveler and Colm... and all the rest of the people you mention. Thanks for the blurb. Q

Yeah, Q, I had mixed feelings about posting it because I KNOW people wish they could have come. The tie-breaker was letting the people I met know how much it meant and how much I enjoyed meeting them. BTW, not met Daio. I thought SHE would be busting her butt, too. Must have spent too much time in the classes/seminars. As to P5, they are holding some really long classes on Sunday and Monday, I think...the paid classes. I think one is around 5 hours and the other around 7 hours. Not a bad price. But my wallet is kinda limp and so is my technical skill...so, I passed. But the instructor is as energetic as one can be. Colm seemed quiet. He reminded me (facially speaking) of Emilio Estevez (sp?). Traveler a bit quiet, too. But they remembered a long complimentary message I typed about how well I thought their site was coming along (about a month ago). I think it was Colm who said it was one of the most enjoyable messages he had read in a while (or maybe it was Traveler...too much, too fast...they were off to find some clothing for Syyd's 'chip off the ole block'...her daughter, I think)
Hehe, bknoh, I think I expended my run of luck. I'd be selfish if I asked for more...grin. In fact, I just posted in a thread about the DAZ dragon where people were excited to get to DAZ and buy/download it. The complete package was one of the CDs I won. Feeling guilty a bit about it now. I guess I shouldn't say this, but I will anyway...hey, when has my mouth EVER been under control? I asked Doc Legume to come down and stay at my house. Offered transportation to and from the convention as well as a cell phone with unlimited calls (to stay in touch and coordinate). But, alas, he is a guy filled with too many things to do in life...and not enough life to do them in. I think next year, I should invite one or two of my foreign friends to come and stay and give them the same offer. Male or female...no matter to me as I am happily married and do NOT flirt with the female friends I have made here. It would be at least ONE small thing I could do to repay SOMEONE here at R'City for what I have received. They'd have to pay for the air fare, but I could get them from the airport (and take them back) and handle everything else...except their fun...grin. Grinning from ear to ear...I just gotta say (again) NOTHING can erase the vision of Doc Mojo strolling into the room with that damned hat on....ROFLOL! Tks for the kinds words, bknoh.
"I asked Doc Legume to come down and stay at my house." Ah huh, yes....well...hmmmmmm...scary! I think of Legume as the "Robin Williams" of Poser Forums. You are just never too sure which way he is going to go next. BTW, I love Robin Williams.....like other women think of having a dream date with some swoony star, I dream of a evening with Robin.
Dream date with RW? WOW! As a guy, with guy hormones, I can certainly think it would be interesting to have a date with Hillary Clinton...surely interesting. Kinda like you with Robin. But assuming any sort of fantasy could EVER happen like that (for either of us...hehe) AND assuming if it COULD happen there would be sex (why not extend the imaginations, right?)...I'd suggest Keanu or Brad for you while I'd settle for suffering the consequences of the sexiest lips around, Ms. A. Jolie! Billy is an idiot. (of course ,what do I know about the intracacies of their life...hehe). But, hell, even women should be attracted to her!
Thanks for letting us know what people are really like behing their names ;) what else did you get from Daz, you said the complete dragon & some other stuff, but what was the other stuff? enquiring(nosey) minds need to know ;) oh yeah don't forget once you're back from the convention we expect to see some renders of that dragon. Ms Jolie! now there's a woman who gives me goosebumps, in a good way of course ;) Even tho I'm a guy & straight I'd go for a night out with Robin Williams. Rob
Hi Chuck, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Funny, I work for an airline and could have flown there for free,(although I hate to fly) but I just couldn't get the time off from work, with all the lay-offs going on. Maybe next year? Be sure to let us know who you run into today, your descriptions of the folks you met are just delightful and I totally enjoyed this thread. (: Genny
I never said this publically before, but I'm a Dana Delany guy. I'd give a year of my life for a night with that woman. My worst year (already had it. I hope) and her best night, of course. Toss another dream onto the fire and watch it burn. :) Don't fall off the dragon. Q

(D. Delany...hmmm. Now, IF you had said Kim Delany...) Anyway, as you can see, I'm home today. As it turns out, my wife missed me more than I understood. Call me PW'd if you will, but as much as I wanted to return to DragonCon today, I just couldn't do it knowing she would be sad all day. We do just about everything together and it's rare we are apart. We work together, lunch together, errands together. About the only time we spend "apart" is when she's playing Mechwarrior on MSN's gaming zone (Valkyrie) and I'm on Renderosity...and even then we're 4 feet from each other. It wasn't till I started looking over the schedule and discovered the entire weekend was filled with Buffy seminars that we realized there was something there SHE was really interested in. I took her down there on Friday and we did what she wanted to do. Since we now know the Buffy stuff is at DragonCon, we'll plan better next year...meaning making alternate plans for our 7-year-old daughter that will free both of us up and not leave one at home "babysitting". Besides, it's a holiday weekend and my wife shouldn't be spending it alone. Wish I could have some more tidbits for those who are interested but I guess we'll have to look elsewhere. AND, I hope the little info I posted was taken as just that--info (and not any sort of childish "I got to go and you didn't...na-na-nee-na-na" way). I read somewhere that someone was interested in the rest of the prizes I got, so I'll humbly mention them: The new DAZ dragon, the DAZ costume pack (actually, the CD is labeled Zygote), a DAZ CD carrying pouch, "3D Texture Workshop" book (The Making of Freaky Frank), and a $20 DAZ gift certificate. Renderosity gave out a really nice freebie book at their booth titled, "3rd Annual 101 Hot Tips" for Photoshop and a small commemerative poster of their appearence at Dragon*Con. All the tickets I stuffed in the drawing bucket (about 15) are still good for thousands of dollars being given away again today (and again on Monday). Guess I'll miss out on any winning ticket(s) as they are just numbers and no names and addresses appear. But no need to be greedy. I had a great time and the stuff I won more than paid me back for my weekend pass. I guess one could say my cup runneth over this weekend. Now, I'll plop down on the bed, curl up next to my wife, and watch a movie with her. PS: I also accosted a women who had the indications of an incredible tatoo on her back. Persuaded her to remove her top right there in the vendor area so I could photograph it. Well, it WAS/IS an incredible tatoo! That's when she told me it won the "Best Female Tatoo of the Year" award at some national tatoo convention in 1984. You guessed it, a dragon with rainbow coloring that covered her entire back! Oh, and she's a librarian...hehe.
I spent a summer in DC as an intern, before the job description got interesting, and remember reading a column by media critic Tom Shales that was a thinly disguised mash note to Dana Delany. If only Garry Marshall hadn't wrecked "Exit to Eden," eh, quixote? Kim Delaney also very nice, but I would have to drive;-)
blink blink I'm complicated? It was very cool meeting all the faces behind the names - I had no idea that PhilC was a brit or that Anton was so freakin' young :) And BTW - for those that saw me Sat night, Sydd says that she and Trav are gonna model my outfit. Be afraid :) Lyrra "Not the small dark Welsh type - more the great, BIG Welsh type" Madril
Hey, Lyrra, don't forget to send me those Bio-Armor pics when you get 'em from Sargebear! And for those who do not know.. "Beer, the path to the Dark Side, is. For Beer leads to drunkenness, drunkenness leads to beer goggles, and beer goggles leads to a nasty woman on your jock. And once a nasty woman you have on your jock, never shall you be rid of her."
Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!
I was there but I was running around like a chicken sans head most of the time. But Lyrra and lots of others can testify to my presence. Daio PS thanks for the b-day wishes and I'm definitely a her

Spent some time in downtown Hotlanta at you know where and mets some of the people behind the "nicknames". Just had to run my mouth a bit. Tonymouse: Waiting patiently for the 10 o'clock class. Talkative, thickly-bearded, and outgoing. Audre: Rushing around, busy, colored hair, and bubbly. Valandar: Passing out leaflets. Best rendition of Yoda discussing beer philosophy...really funny. JennyK: Rushing around, beautiful smile, and bubbly. Butch: Behind the R'City counter both times, hey, don't get him mad at you...he's kinda big. PhillC: British accent (although at times it sounded a bit Aussie to me), soft-spoken, and humble. Think "beard". Syyd (Raven): Gothed out (with daughter) and entourage consisting of Traveler and Colm. Headed to search Little 5 Points for some alternative clothing...hehe. Chad Smith of DAZ: Smiling and busy. Oh, did I say handsome? Rick Schrand: Giving the Vue session. Think "humorous" and knowledgeable. Made a few too many jokes about his age and memory and partying days of the 60's...grin. Anton: Of DAZ broker fame. Looks like a kid. I swear he would have looked completely at ease with a big skateboard over his shoulder. Kewl guy! Dimensia: (Marilyn ?) Anton's partner. I'm afraid she was too cute and nice for me to remember her name correctly...my apologies. LawnDartLawnDart: Bubbling with enthusiasm. Showing P5. Obviously in love with the product! Think "knowledgeable". Lyrra: Outgoing, outspoken. Half Welsh, though (same as me)...hehe. You could spend the night with her and STILL not figure her out. Doc Mojo: What can I say about the president of a company who shows up at his seminar wearing a baseball cap with rainbow lights illuminating his face? The word, kewl, springs to mind! (picture available upon request). Well, that about does it. DAZ, as usual, was SUPER-generous and gave away a few thousand dollars worth of raffle prizes (and they'll do it again tomorrow!). Of which I, if I may brag, was the proud winner of THREE! (Just wish I had gotten one of the EIGHT Mimic prizes or one of the several $100 gift certificates, though...but I shouldn't complain). Thanks, DAZ. Before I close, I didn't want to be redundant in my mentions of the people above. But ALL the people I met were FRIENDLY, OUTGOING, and EAGER to speak to other R'City people. Makes me glad I'm a member. PS: Lyrra, you shrew (J/K), don't you move this message to the OT section. Hehe, as IF I could stop you if you wanted to. See ya tomorrow!
