Subject: problem with shoes - P4 newbie question. technical?

I just got P4 out of the box yesterday, so forgive me if this is obvious. I start a new document, add P4 female, "create new" shoe, hit Conform To... The shoe sticks out of her bottom. I try to move the shoe, her foot moves, the shoe stays in her bottom. This happens for Dork as well as Posette and for all shoes/boots, etc. It's an interesting effect but I didn't ask for the shoe-fetishist's edition thanks CL. Anyone point out the error of my ways and help Posette remove what must be a very uncomfortable problem? Thanks:)

First, make sure you're conforming the shoe to the P4 female, not to something else. (Been there, done that.) If that isn't the issue, I'd suspect a corrupted .rsr file. Poser doesn't actually use .obj files. It makes a copy of them with the extension .rsr. Those files become corrupted a lot. You'll have to close Poser and do the following: Go to the Runtimegeometries folder and find the folder that has the shoe .obj file. (I deleted out my P4 female stuff, so I don't know which folder it is.) Delete the .rsr file that is in the same folder as the .obj file. (Do NOT delete the .rsr that is in the Runtimecharacter folder! It will get rid of the icon that you see in the library to indicate what the shoe looks like.) Open Poser back up and try again. That should fix it. If you're not sure exactly which .rsr file in the RuntimeGeometries folder is causing the issue, delete them all. Just make sure you're inside the geometries subfolder, not the library subfolders. This solves all sorts of dumb issues with Poser items. It's the Poser equivalent to "turn the machine off; wait 30 seconds; then turn it back on." Hope this helps.

thanks for your suggestions Crescent - unfortunately that doesn't get the shoe out of Posette's butt. It's the same with socks too - all the other clothes work just fine... :( I don't really want to do it, but maybe a full re-install is needed. That's the equivalent of getting out of the car and giving it a darn good kicking... not an auspicious start!

Have you got the latest patch? You should be at 4.03. Also, try turning IK off on the figures legs.

And turn IK off for the shoes, also, if applicable.

thanks guys - I had no idea that shoes had their own IK :)
