has anyone succesfully transmapped them? No matter what I do, the belt and loops, and even the pleats, have a ghost. I have the object color set to white, and all the others set to black, which normally gets rid of the translucent ghost, but not this time. I have tried just turning off the abs for the pants, but that cuts away too much of the garment. Anyone have an idea?

Check the Falloff slider; the only way to remove the Ghosts is to have it set EXACTLY at 0. Or so it seems to me; if there's another method, I'd love to hear it!

nope, that is not it, falloff is at 0 good guess though, that has solved past ghosts, but I think this one needs an exorcism :-)

Pam, I don't know if this is the problem, but it got rid of ghosts for me previously. Make sure the black is REALLY black. If its even 1 or 2 points off it will leave ghosts. Diane B

Highlights. make sure all highlight are invisable material are set to zero.

OK, I have it looking better, but not great. The black of the transmap was not pure black, so that helped (thanks Diane), but there was still some ghosting. I did all the things suggested here, I have turned off shadows, dropped highlights to the minimum, and I still have a glare from the belt :-( It is something I can easily airbrush out for my own use, I just cannot put these pants into free stuff. Could someone else try transmapping the slacks and see if it is me or the model ? LOL

I get this problem so often, I've taken to editing the mesh instead of trying to remove parts with trans maps. Your symptom looks like highlight or reflective color not dead black, and sometimes you want a color for the part you can see, so you don't get a choice.

I also stumbled upon this darn problem. Maybe in this case, only "snow cloning" (i.e.: two renders, one without clothes, then combining the two in a paint program) helps...

I normally take it to Bryce and that fixes the weird poser ghosts normally .. Not sure though .. Hope you get it figured out and nice texture S

Set the pants abdomen taper to >0.0, and move on. Life's too short...

lmacken, I love it. Why didn't I think of that!

melanie ( ) posted Fri, 17 March 2000 at 9:21 PM

Why does the falloff slider default to about .6 or thereabouts? I noticed that when I was trying to transmap something that wouldn't work. Why hasn't it been set to default to 0 automatically? Melanie

Hi all. I am very new to this, but I think your missing something very simple. Look for a material named default and set it's colors and trans. That should get rid of your ghosts. DM
