DragonWalk ( ) posted Thu, 05 September 2002 at 8:41 PM

WOW!!....that looks awsome!...great lighting too!

Are you using Max now, Wolf? Or is that a demo pic from their site? Either way, it's beautiful. -Tim

Very nice work. Ron

EricofSD ( ) posted Thu, 05 September 2002 at 10:03 PM

Well, I had to stare for a while. You've rendered a girl that is strikingly like my last girlfriend. WOW! i'll have to email her to take a look at this pic.

timoteo1 ( ) posted Thu, 05 September 2002 at 10:14 PM

Duh ... I just looked at the picture again. Unless Wolf changed his name to Anatoliy, I don't think it's his. I guess that answers my question about you using Max. Should have also realized that would of course mean you started using a Win platform. Take care, Tim

awesome

Himico ( ) posted Thu, 05 September 2002 at 10:50 PM

Wow great! Are you suggesting that I should buy 3Dstudio MAX, and cancel my P5 order? How long does it take to make the picture using 3Dstudio MAX? What do you think?

Barryw ( ) posted Thu, 05 September 2002 at 11:17 PM

he got it off the CG Talk website. www.cgtalk.com . Really cool stuff in there.

DragonWalk ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 3:23 AM

Well....that is disappointing then...for shame...naughty...naughty...tsk..tsk...tsk!...the dunce hat and in the corner for you for this day...and no milk and cookies!! But I don't "think" wolf is actually SAYING it is his/her work...??? On a side note folks...this CAN be done with poser 4...photoshop and a little imagination already....I say this because I see it done every week... I think poser 5 is an awsome adventure to look forward to....on the other hand...it could be a software laced with bugs yet...let's have fun finding out...Max 5 is out and I haven't heard much about it yet.... Photoshop 7 came out without any glitches...that was awsome...let's hope poser 5 does near as well ;-)

timoteo1 ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 4:03 AM

No he never did say it. As far as it being able to be done in Poser 4, Wolf (and myself) are strictly animators ... so it really CAN'T be done with Poser 4, unfortunately. Hopefully Poser 5 will yield much better results, and there's always rendering in other apps. But it would be nice if you could get those kind of renders natively.

DragonWalk ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 4:15 AM

timoteo1....not sure what you mean by animators and not being able to get this result with poser 4 because of that....?? If you are talking about "still" images....look at so many of the images here in the best of the gallery stuff alone...that is just "poser" too...I have and DO see stuff like this quality done already...the background CAN be created with "other" programs (if this one was not already done JUST that way...)....this girl can be rendered various different ways...there is far more out there in the REAL world besides poser...besides max...etc...etc...etc...;-)

timoteo1 ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 4:20 AM

Sorry I wasn't clear ... I just meant it is EXTREMELY difficult for animators to do post work on an animation. I'm not talking about compositing (I do that ALL the time) either, I mean post work to the figure would be near impossible.

DragonWalk ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 4:40 AM

Yeah....that is very difficult indeed...got a point there....lots of work...LOTS! On the other hand...if and when THIS kind of work "could" actually be done "out of box"....without much imagination...can you even think of how many would be displaced and out of work...?? I mean...then...why even bother trying...if one can just click...click...click...;-)

gryffnn ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 7:21 AM

The image is lovely and lush, but to be fair, not realistic. Where does that bright, diffuse lighting on her come from? Or the edge lighting on her arm and chin? It doesn't match the moonlight. And the curve of her body is too round and undeformed against the tree trunk.

wolf359 ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 7:25 AM

I really liked the image thats why i posted it with the artists copyright boldly displayed( he's very good!!) no im not using max but i found the image very inspiring as a cg artist :-)

No offense...realism can be had with a good camera anytime....art is for imagination...inspiration...dreams...stuff one cannot get through realism that even "photographers" aspire to create many times with "trick photography" and "darkrooms" and "special effects"...art is for going beyond the "limitations" of "real"...for renderings just like this one displayed here...that are beautiful, enchanting...surreal...feel good...but NOT at all necessarily real.... Cheers ;-)

Really nice picture, breathtaking, I have seen things done like this also using Poser, our own gallery I think has just about the best work too, just got to work at it. Sharen

Dizzie ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 9:37 AM

I've never seen ay renders from Poser like that.....Poser makes too many mistakes where the body parts bend...you'd have to do a ton of post work to smooth out the parts.....look at the armpit, that's definitely post work.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 9:43 AM

I really have seen some, go to Daz's gallery, you will lots of pictures some perfect from Poser, some put into Vue and no postwork....go check it out...Sharen
