Subject: Where can I find Metacreations Dance Studio to use with Poser?

Hi! I use Poser primarily as an animation tool more than anything and it has recently come to my attention (it was actually quite accidental I should add)that Metacreations released a program back in September of '98 called Dance Studio. Apparently with this software, you can animate 3D "dancers" and record the motion. Once saved, you can then take the created motion file and after altering the .bvh file in WordPad, import it into Poser and apply it to a character. Well that sounds cool enough and worth a shot but do you think I can find a copy of the software anywhere? Nope. Discontinued. Unsupported. Someone out there in Poser land has got to be able to give me a lead on how/where I can get my grubby little paws on this software! Anyone? Anyone at all? Buehler? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out on this one. Regards, S. Zeidler

I got a copy off Ebay, about 2 years ago. I paid $9.95+ postage. You might try E-bay again... who knows? niles

I just bought it off EBay and was suprised that I had to install it on my old Windows 95 laptop. I think it'll work on 98 and possibly ME but it specifically fails on NT or any NT descendants.

FYI: It will not run in windows xp or windows 2000 pro. I am not sure about windows nt. I could only run it in windows 98.

For xp users: has anyone tried running it in Win98 compatibility mode? I've seen it on ebay several times also.

I have the patch. It's about 1/2 Meg. Give me an e-mail addy and I'll send it to you. I found that using it in OpenGL mode never worked very good. You can change it to software mode in the settings somwhere. Even an old K-6 450 Mhz computer was pleanty fast enough for it. You've go a lot of work ahead of you, to get much BVH that's usable in Poser. I think you also have to re-time the animation after you import it. There's 30 Megs of BVH files here: http://movement.stanford.edu/santa.zip The readme file tells you how to use them with Poser. Needs minor tweaking.
