Subject: Just wanted to introduce myself ....

Hi everybody, I signed up here a couple of days ago and "sneaked in" through the galleries .... Renderosity is so big that it took me a while to find this particular place. My real name is Gitte, but that was already taken :-(, so I used the French spelling and my husband's family name. I'm Danish, but live in Paris since 1988. 42 years old, husband and two small boys. I have always done creative stuff such as drawing, oil and acrylics, fashion making, but not on a regular basis and only for my own pleasure. My first ambition after leaving school was to get accepted at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and become a painter, which I prepared for with a special drawing course during a year. I then gave it up without even having tried for financial reasons and got a job with which the time made me an import/export assistant and brought me to Germany and then to France. Now I have the opportunity to reorientate professionally, so from next Monday, I'm starting at a photography school where I'll stay for a year. It's an intensive one year course for adults - youngsters do it in two years. I'll get a professional diploma in the end. The plan is to buy a photostore with my husband. I imagine it much more than just a regular photostore for development only, but I'm perhaps dreaming .... well, aren't dreams the motor of life ? My interest for photography started a year ago when taking reference photos with a small compact camera for a childrens' book project I have. After a while, I started to use my husbands 22 year old Canon AE-1 and recently, I bought myself a Canon EOS 30. I'm starting from the ground and digital will have to wait for a while. Enough about myself - sorry for that fat novel :-( I don't think there are many people who I already know in this particular forum, but I did notice Bevchiron who I know from another forum outside Renderosity. Tell me, did you drop the "Photo of the Week" ? Apparently, it was a nice place for quality photos to have the place they deserve. Thanks for reading me :-) Gitte

Welcome Gitte...I'm glad you decided to stop in and say hello. Your plans for the future sound exciting, good luck to you. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work. I like what I've seen in your gallery, so do share more of them with us. The POTW has been placed on hold temporarily while our Photography Forum Resource Center is going under re-designs. Hopefully we will have that up and running soon. :~)

I am, therefore I create.......

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody :-) I'm sure, I'll feel comfortable here ! The challenges seem to be very interesting and a good opportunity for me to make exercises with things I haven't tried yet, so I'll most likely participate. Gitte

Another children's book illustrator in the house??? YAY!!! ;-) Welcome to the Forum, Gitte! Yep, as Michelle said, the POTW is temporarily suspended. But don't despair! It will be back as soon as we have the Resource Center up and running. And soon it will be... ;-) Meanwhile I hope you enjoy your stay here. (And stay clear of the PhotoForum pet, drugmonkey a.k.a. Slynky heh heh...) (*
