Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 30 6:52 am)
IMHO, you did not waste your money. Vue doesn't do all that Bryce does...and vice-versa. I personally haven't had the problems that others have related, and the only ctd's I've had were when I =knew= I was straining my system resources (three of Steffy ZZ's Breath-Gen textured Vicki 2 characters, with about half a dozen terrain blocks boosted to 1024x1024. I only have 512 meg system ram. Swap file lose it's way, Vue fall down go boom) The troubles that Vue has falls into two general categories; OS limitations regarding memory management (the 98-WinME crowd, which effectively limits them to 512 megs), and driver-Geforce incompatibilites (and 9 times out of 10, turning off the Open GL acceleration option makes those go away). Give it a try, and see.
It's funny that you brought frustration, because I feel the same way. When I'm working on a scene, the last thing I want to experience is frustration. I've learned through experience on my path to lessen frustration to avoid certain things and to accept others. In the year that I've worked with Vue, my frustrations have now reached an all time low.

It's a good enough piece of software, with all it good and bad habits, the other programs in the same line (Bryce etc) aren't perfect either. Wouldn't know about tutorials or the manuals, never opened them past the serialnumbers (except V2.0 which had the serialno. stuck on the outside. Don't bother with OpenGL on a Geforce card, wireframe works fine in VUE.
Vue has an endless amount of errors, but since I haven't had the time to download the upgrade yet, I can't realy complain. ( How big is the download? ) Still running on a 3 year old comp with the amazing amount of 64MB Ram....... The animation part is a pain in the a**. Especially the pivot point, that seems flying around some times. But I survive. Trust me, there aren't a software I haven't been able to crash ;)
If you paid attention to the problem reposts, you should have see that 75 % of problems are solved with downloading the last patch (4.1) or the last hardware drivers, or simply getting to know what is the 'right' way of making things... For the still 25 %, consider that some have the problem while others don't. You really don't have luck if you have the whole 25 % of problems that can occur with Vue. So, my answer is "no, you didn't waste your bucks !" Argentium Thri'ile

First, a "hi" to the Vue forum! I sat in on a demo/seminar thingie @ DragonCon and like a good boy, went home and entered my secret code and ordered Vue @ $40 off. I had seen pics with Vue and Poser and thought they would work well together. So, naturally, I came over to check out the Vue forum (etc.) and I see, well, lots of posts indicating problems. So, aside from my inartistic abilities (grin), did I waste my money?
