Subject: posing the relative distance & attitude of two models

With a pose, I can pose one part of a model against another part. So I did this:- - I loaded a man. - I loaded a posable helmet with visor model (a model, not a prop) that I had made. - I parented the helmet to the man's head - As a result, the helmet's BODY was child of the man's head. - I selected the helmet. - I exported the helmet as a pose. - On examination, the resulting pose file didn't have a section for the helmet's BODY, so I added one with a text editor. - I restarted Poser and loaded the Casual Boy, who is shorter than a man. - I added the helmet and parented it to the boy's head. - I selected the helmet and applied the above pose (which now has a section for its BODY). === But the helmet did not snap to the correct placing compared to the boy's head. -- In the compound tree with the helmet parented to a human's head, if the helmet's BODY's xtran ytran ztran are not the relative position of the helmet compared to its current parent, then what is it then????

Hello, I'm not 100% sure but I think you should add the parented helmet to the prop library. I think it needs to be a pp2 file to be a smart prop. I don't think it will work as a pose. I'm just guessing though. Serpent

This was a simple case to test something: e.g. I want to set up a man wearing my flamethrower model, once, and then export the relating positioning of his hands and its gun part, and lines setting particular IK chains on, and parenting the end part of a set-ON IK chain to some part of the other model to make a circle of linked parts, and so on and so forth, as a pose or similar file, so I can quickly put my flamethrower, or my scuba set, or my frogman's rebreather, or etc, on any Poser humanoid model without a lot of tedious re-posing of the arms and hands and fingers etc every time. - I made a pose of the man as when wearing my flamethrower, and a pose of the flamethrower as when the man is wearing it, and ditto with a man wearing my oxy-gas blowtorch with backpack cylinders; but those poses don't get the two models into the correct relative positions. - In particular, I want to do this to get my frogman's rebreather diving set's mask to automatically go onto its user's face if desired. That is why I had to make its mask a separate model, as otherwise getting it in the right place would be difficult when attached to the end of its hose.
