idova ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:38 AM

you lucky people, i am here in England looking at my estimated delivery date of TODAY with no poser 5, i was so hoping that being in the UK so close to Ireland that i might be the first to get it :( never mind just as long as i get it sooner rather than later :) well done people, let us know how it is

Tilandra ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:39 AM

LOL Sharen! I could just "see" you holding up the box and waving it around. As of yesterday, mine was stuck in Wilmington(?) Ohio. Apparently, Ohio is the central hub of the universe, or something. Tilandra

thgeisel ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:44 AM

All the owners of P 5 , render happy and show us some of your work!!!

SAMS3D ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:44 AM

That is where mine was this morning......you will get it today I am sure of it....Sharen

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:52 AM

At least you got a tracking number. Marque

Tilandra ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:53 AM

Now that would turn my (so far) crap day into gold! We have a phone line problem inside the house. None of the phones can get a dial tone, like one is off the hook. We've unplugged them all and tried a working phone on each jack individually, but they all sound like one is off the hook, even though there are no other phones plugged in. And of course, since it's inside the house, they're going to charge us mega-bucks if they come out and fix it. Enough about me, lets just say P5's arrival would be wonderful! I won't want the phone to ring, then. :P

ziggy3d ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:55 AM

Got to wait until the 17th To get if in the UK so thats a while off yet, hope to see some good renders to lessen the pain:)

Jackson ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:56 AM

I'm really glad you got it, Sharen. But can't you perk up a little?

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 11:01 AM

Hey you guys, Just checked my tracking. and my says it arrived in the city this morinning out for Delievery at 9:55, I live in the country and our numbers are messed up. Should I go sit out by the road. I did not pay extra shipping, I thought I was getting ground. Now I'm nervous, so many times these delivery guys just whiz right by out place going 55 miles. I could take out a lemonade stand and pretend I'm selling it and, throw the pitcher at the truck if he doesn't stop. :O) OH poo, I did leave the house once today. See Sharon now you have me all hyper. and I know I won't be able to do anything with it. :O)

Love is Grandchildren.

kelchris3 ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 12:01 PM

SimonWM ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 12:50 PM

I got it too, just I'm at work and Poser is a hobby. I have the box at my desk but I have to wait until I get home this afternoon to finally install it. The manual is thick!!! Corel 10 doesn't even ships with a manual anymore, its good Curious does provides us with a manual this thick.

Cage ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 1:00 PM

Can you, umm, render some elbow, knee and shoulder posing examples? Still wanna see how the bending works on the new figures.... :)

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

gryffnn ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 2:38 PM

Can't believe it, was dutifully working away, trying to clear the decks before P5 arrived. Just thought to check - and the !*&^%^! delivery dude left the box at the door!!! It may have been there for HOURS. Installing right now :-)

Sharen! You're killin' me!!!!! LOL

whbos ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 3:19 PM

I'm still waiting for my email with the tracking number. Does anybody know the timeline for shipping such as pre-orders versus orders since last Friday? I heard that some people had gotten tracking numbers when they put an order in Friday which doesn't make much sense. I think I'll email CL to see what's going on. The suspense is too much for me. And I hope they speed up the delivery for all those folks in the UK. They really shouldn't have to wait longer for their Poser5.

timoteo1 ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 7:01 PM

Add me to the list ... it was sitting here all day and I didn't even know it! (Not that I had time to use it anyway.) It's a day early ... feels like Christmas! [Inhaling "new packaging smell" deeply as wife looks on with a crinkled brow. ;-) )

bloodsong ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 7:08 PM

hmph. ;)

Tilandra ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 10:03 PM

Bleah. Mine did not come today... they do things slower here in the south. AND I looked around and behind everything by the front step... just in case, you understand ;) I did, however, get my Star Trek TNG season 4 DVD box set, so the day was not a total waste.

timoteo1 ( ) posted Mon, 09 September 2002 at 11:16 PM

Wouldn't mind having the TNG sets myself ... they're a tad pricey though. It will cost nearly a thousand dollars to own them all. :(

Tilandra ( ) posted Tue, 10 September 2002 at 12:27 AM

If you pre-order them, with free shipping (very slow, but free) you can get them about $85US per box. Much cheaper than the $130 SRP, and even after release you can find them at Amazon and other etailers for around $99 I'm fortunate I've had decent success on ebay selling recently. :) so I have the cash.

timoteo1 ( ) posted Tue, 10 September 2002 at 12:58 AM

DeepdiscountDVD has them for around $98 shipped. It isn't really a lack of cash, it's "Do I want to spend $800 on Next Gen DVD's and deal with my wife's chagrin." I've already sunk thousands into my DVD library, I'm just trying to decide if its really worth it. Although I have bought all the Soprano's ... and you only get 13 episodes (about half), soooo, hmmm. I know we're going way off topic here, but what's your impression of them? How is the quality? Special features any good? Thanks! -Tim

Tilandra ( ) posted Tue, 10 September 2002 at 1:39 AM

Heh, off topic is my middle name. Excellent quality. Menus, extras, video and sound quality are all what you would expect. Definitely worth the money, much more so than the individual, two-episode per disc set for the Original Series, which I felt was a ripoff (but bought anyway, grr) Personally, I only bought Season 1 of the Sopranos, but have the first four of TNG. Love both shows, but think the TNG is a better value. We now return you to your regularly scheduled anticipation of Poser 5's arrival (Feel free to message me if you want to continue to talk about them)

timoteo1 ( ) posted Tue, 10 September 2002 at 1:56 AM

Thanks for the mini-review! I also have to factor in how much time do I have with 3 kids ages five and under, and a umpteen hobbies, not the least of which is Poser, which now will increase several-fold now that I have P5. Thanks again for the info. -Tim (warping over to the other computer to start some P5 renders! Engage baby!)

Tilandra ( ) posted Tue, 10 September 2002 at 2:49 AM

Tim, this is why the higher power created home networking... so you can have another machine with a DVD drive playing the episodes next to you while messing with Poser. Or if you're insane, move the PC where the TV is. (They'd never tear me out of the room if I did that) Of course, the kids never let you have the TV remote, I'll bet, so it's a moot point. My four-year-old tries to monopolize two TVs at once. "Hey, I was watching that!" NOW, I need to get some sleep so I can answer the door when the Airborne Express guy comes a knocking tomorrow (fingers crossed)

quixote ( ) posted Thu, 12 September 2002 at 10:52 AM

Just had to come and see if I was doing it right. Trip over a rug... I have no rugs. But I trip over myself every second step theses days. There, that was a nice one. And another (the judges will give me a 9 on this one.) Now open the box and smell. I can't smell. My allergies... I can wave the box. I'm doing the Sharen wave folks..... I got it.... Today. Got to go...got to go.... Bubye, Q
