I have a question and hope someone can help me.

Is there a way to save slice layout in Photoshop? I am working on a web project which involves the same site design but many different colors. Do I have to slice all of them separately (which I would hate to do since they are all the same)or is there a way of saving the slice layout and use the same layout for all the designs?

I had a similar situation a few months ago. I created a master template page and used it as the basis for all the pages in the site, modifying and adding as needed. You could make a master page (with slices), open and save a copy with the new page name, use "Hue & Saturation" (or fill, or whatever) to change the colors, then make any other required changes.

Thanks Cinema! :) I had something like that in mind.... as a matter a fact, I have tried all kinds of things, but was just hoping there would be a simpler solution to it. Was also surprised that Image Ready doesn't have any better options.

Some times this works against you if you make a graphic element larger than the original slice. Since you're just changing color it should be a breeze for you. Just turn on/off layers for the different colors and name them differently in the "Slice" tab, and save.

Retrocity thanks for reply. I was wondering if you can apply the same slice layout to the different file. Something like saving a path, If you know what I mean. The thing is, I already made all the designs with different colors and they are all separate files. Now I need to go back to them and slice them all the same, but it's time consuming. I really hope I am making sense here! :)

Do you need them with the layers intact?

The reason being, if all the elements are shown, and there is no reason for the layers (other than editing future revisions...) than you could (in theory) take a flattened version of the modified design and add it to your MASTER layout (that already has the slices) and launch ImageReady and rename the slices (as noted in #4) to correspond with the modified design layer.

Something like this:
You create a MASTER layout and set your guidelines to where you want the slices.

Launch ImageReady and "create slices by guidelines" (combine any slices that you want to group together).

Select "Save Optimized As" and this creates your HTML code and an image folder.

Flip back to Photoshop and open your next design. "Select all" (Ctrl+A) then "copy merged" (Shift+Ctrl+C). This makes a flattened version of your next design and copies it to the clipboard.

Toggle to your MASTER layout file and "paste" (Ctrl+V).

Switch back to ImageReady (you may have to "save" your changes to the MASTER file first...) and change the names of the slices to reflect the new design.

The slices should be the same and when you "Save Optimized As" they will be added into your image folder.

Repeat this for each design. You can use the "table" structure (HTML) that ImageReady creates for your site. If you want you can change the HTML file name when you do your "save as" to create a new HTML file each time you add and save a new design.

You just gave me a solution that will make my life easier... :) I will have to secrifice some layers, but that's no biggy.
