Subject: Airconditioning needed

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 10 September 2002 at 10:35 AM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 2:34 PM

Or rather I need some PICTURES of a window-mounted airconditioning to go with my newly released Trash Street. I've searched Google, but as I'm not really sure WHAT I'm looking for, it's a bit hard. It has to be a type that would go with a window like the one in my scene. I guess I can't post a link to something in the marketplace in here, so if ppl want to see the scene, look for my name. It's my only item so far. Thanks in advance. Oh and a link to a picture would be great, or else feel free to e-mail them to me.

Try manufacture's websites such as Fedders (http://www.fedders.com/consumer.htm) or retailer's sites like Sears (http://www.sears.com/sr/homepages/sears_homepage.jsp) Chris Cox

Those links were great, but I need to know what an airconditioning looks like from the OUTSIDE... They're quite uncommon here and even the few that exists are probably of a type that wouldn't fit an american style window... But thanks anyway. At least I have a vague idea now :o)

This link shows several A/C units in place, in New York buildings. The one near the bottom is especially good and "authentic". Other pages in that site also show A/C units.

Oh, Ockham, what memories you spurred. My first serious boyfriend lived at 18 Christopher in that top-most apartment (with the dormer windows); we seriously considered buying the apartment and keeping it for rental income when we moved to San Francisco for the then-unheard-of price of ten thousand dollars. (sigh) The ceilings are scarely over seven feet, maybe 7-6. The rooms are incomprehensibly tiny. But it's a real charmer of a place. The "skinniest house in NY" was abandoned for a long time; it's nice to see someone pulled it back before it got torn down or made into too-expensive condos. The cigar store is a model of marketing compression: you can barely turn around when you walk in there. Happy times.......

That Forgotten NY site is a real treasure trove. I remember reading about that narrowest house way back in the 1950's, in Village Voice. It's probably not the narrowest house in the country; there are some "shotgun houses" in the South and West, or mass-produced tenant shacks in old company towns, that may beat it.
