I haven't had the time to play around as much as I would like due to kids, job, wife etc. First off you cannot link Vue to the new Poser.exe in Poser 5. Vue comes up with a you have an invalid serial number message and instructs you to contact Curious Labs. When I tried to pull in a single figure in, Vue began looking for the obj files, textures etc. in the old Psoer 4 folder. It then asked for the correct location of the files. I did not have enough time to direct it to the correct location but I am will try later this evening when I get home. I simply told it to cease looking for the files. The new hair object file pulled up in the window, but not the human figure. I am hopeful that it will work though. Hopefully the nice folks that make Vue will address the serial number isssue, as direct Poser import is one of this products big selling points. JAS

Here's a test I just ran. Posted the same thing in the Poser forum. Only the hair's skull cap came in (?!) And even so, Vue reported it couldn't find the texture. The scene contained Don, the new hair and new clothes. Go figure.

Its a good thing that I held off getting Poser 5.

I'm kind of confused that people would expect Vue to be able to work with P5 data at all. Vue 4 was released a year ago, when P5 would have been just a glimmer in CL's eye. It sounds like CL works well with partners who want to develop import functionality, but I'm sure its their priority to build native features into Poser, not make it backwards-compatible with every third-party's import utility. I would expect future versions of Vue to follow CL's upgrade, because Poser import is obviously very high on many people's lists. But I never expected a brand new version of Poser to work with an older version of Vue. I tend to like to see software 'burned-in' in the market before I buy it, so obviously my opinions will differ from some others. That being said, I would hope there's a workaround out there until Vue catches up with P5's new features. Perhaps there are options in P5 that let you save scenes in P4 formats, or a way to keep installations of P4 and P5 on a PC simultaneously.

i saw a message explaining how to get new dynamic hair into bryce somewhere. My main worry is to detect NO HIDDEN problem in normal Poser scene (with no dynamic cloth or hair). Laurent

well you could always just import it in as an object file, or I wonder if Poser 4 will read it and then export it out as a Poser 4 pz3 file? Sharen

To be honest I expected Vue to have problems with Poser 5. Im going to wait a bit before I get Poser 5. Im still learning Vue and my new machine I am slowly building is sucking most of my money.

Vue imported my latest P5 file perfectly. See my message 8 threads up. The trick was using all P4 characters and hair. Even Mike2 came in fine. The entire scene was done and saved using P5.

Yes!!! "Vue imported my latest P5 file perfectly. See my message 8 threads up. The trick was using all P4 characters and hair. Even Mike2 came in fine. The entire scene was done and saved using P5." Thanks for that great news Jackson. As long as I can still bring in the old P4 stuff with P5 installed, I'll be happy. Time to go buy myself a present! jon

You're all welcome; I was very happy with the result myself. But keep in mind, I did NOT uninstall Poser 4. I doubt it would work if I did. I think I'll try moving it when I get time.
