Subject: Final Render Resolution / Size

I was just curious what resolution people do their final renders at prior to postwork etc. Additionly are there any recomendations for render res / size to allow for getting the pic printed in a reasonable sized format at a later date? cheers all :=)

I normally change only the pixel values and leave the dpi at default. The dpi can be resample without lost in a Paint program like Corel PhotoPaint, PhotoShop etc...but just make sure you keep the pixels size the same while at it.

I do most of my final renders at 1600 by 1280 and Maximum setting for saving the jpeg. This allows me to pick up on a lot of fine detail in postwork. I usually then reduce to 1024 by 768 and reduce jpeg quality to medium (8) for posting to Rosity. Some sites with low limits set on filesize may need a more drastic reduction in image quality to get the filesize low enough.

I usually render mine at the max size that Poser allows at 300 dpi. From there I do my postwork and after that I can resize it either up or down without losing any detail. However, this is for my prints, not anything I'm putting on the web..although the stuff that goes up on the web are just derivatives from my master tif file. The only thing that I save in jpg is whatever I'm putting up on the web. Any printwork is always, always a master tif. ;) Pendy
