Subject: Poser 5 and Bryce

Hello, does anyone know if the new Poser 5 characters, with their new fangled hair and all will work in Bryce 5? And if so is it any easier or harder than importing figures and textures/transmaps etc. like in Poser 4? Been considering an upgrade to Poser 5, but most stuff I do is outdoor scenes with Bryce. Also, are there any new animals or updates to the existing ones? Thanks for any info.

No the hair will not translate to brice as it is not geometry based, and the material room stuff won't either you can import the posed dynamic clothing though of course it isn't dynamic in brice though. frankly if you do all your renderiing in brice you will have to weigh weather the new figures, face room, and new library system are worth your upgrade.

Hey nerd this would be a good time to plug your backdrop again. I think I'm going to be using it alot more in p5!

Well, until now I have done all my rendering in Bryce, but since the terrains export to Poser just fine, and since Poser does background images, maybe its time to switch. now for that second day airbone that's 5 days old!

Importing textures and transmaps is no different with the P5 figures except for an extra lenscovering on the eyes, similar to Cake1's eyes. The hair is not a good thing once it's been finagled into Bryce, but it can be done, it's just not pretty - http://www.fignations.com/jelisa/tutorials/p5hair3.html There are supposed to be some updated animals coming from CL soon though, although they haven't said what is being updated. Hopefully they will have more realistic posing and look better. -darlisa

Ok, thanks. Will have to really think about the upgrade then. I guess the option of rendering the people and all in Poser and the landscape in Bryce, then compositing them together is still an option. But I can never get the shadows from poser right in Bryce that way.
