Wrote this years ago. Thought you folks might get a chuckle out of it. Tall Tale The story below is definately true And I've been chosen to tell it to you. It comes from the annals of Scottish lore, Though not many have heard it before, There was a time when everyone was 'ware Of the giant piper with flaming red hair; Whose bathtub fine was a loch called Ness, Who outshone the sun in his Highland dress. His laughter boomed like ocean surf The heather hills were his native turf. His chanter bloomed with notes so sweet While he kept time with bouncing feet. He charmed the lairds for miles around- The Scots folk loved the enchanting sound. He romped the hills in Edward's day- Concerning this, there's much to say. One morn brave Wallace lay still abed, Our hero had long been up and fed, When he saw on the hill an awful sight- The English army ready to fight! He blew up his pipes with lightning speed Quick tuned the drones and pinched the reed. The thunderous sound filled all the air, In terror the soldier ranks pause to stare, As o'er the hill with measured tred Came a form both huge and dred. So it was with music alone, Music of pipes grandly blown, The armies of England left Scotland free And brought this proud tale to you and me!
