Subject: Arggh help! pt. 2

I was working on a file for about two days and I dont want to loose it. I was mostly done with this figure but then when I went to open it again I just got an error saying it is not a valid poser format. The only real change from the last time that I opened it until then was a hand enlargement using a magnet. Well I basically have had some help but still cant figure it. I was wondering if someone that knows the code stuff could look and see if they can fix it since I am code stupid to say the least... I had a co-worker host it on her page. I am on a Mac pre-patch but the pz3 file enclosed in the zip is made for IBM ... http://members.tripod.com/~HeleneK/TrollStart.zip If someone can help me with it they can use the figure in there pics and all if they want. It is a pretty cool (if I do say so myself) looking troll. Just based off the p4 male physique figure with tons of morphs ... Any help would be appreciated greatly .. Thanks

Try importing it into an empty Poser scene. You'll find Poser file formats under the import menu as well. -JH.

I am not positive if it didnt work because I dont have a couple of the obj files or not but I received missing obj errors and then got the dreaded file is not a valid poser file .. I will have to wait until I get home to make sure and check and see if it will work .. Thanks anyway though

Yikkes! what a mess ;-). This file has two sets of lights and cameras. Four figures (three of them custom clothing figures)and bad morph targets for the hip! I changed it to a .cr2 file. And wipped out all of those cameras and lights. Then I removed all of the morph targets for the hip. Compose was giving me wrong number of vertices errors for it. There is no way for me to open it or go any farther with it because of the custom geometries that are in this file. Since I don't have these folders or files on my computer. First do this: check to see that you have these folders and files on your computer: Runtime->Geometries->Poser4Clothes:Dresses:belt2.obj Runtime->Geometries->Shirts:cuirassi.obj Runtime->Geometries->ZygoteCostumes:Clothing:Tunic.obj If you misspelled them (capitalization counts) or are missing one of these. That will be the first problem. Second: Here is the new .CR2 file without the lights cameras and No morphs for the hip that were causing errors. You can add them later if the file opens for you. Just put it in one of your libraries folders. Then open Poser and click on the shrugging guy. Poser will generate the other files automatically and open it. That is if there's nothing else wrong in there ;-). http://skyscraper.fortunecity.com/tyrell/769/troll.zip I'm afraid there's no way for me to check it myself. Because I don't have those custom folders of files on My P.C. Good luck ScottA

Thank you Scott so much ... I know the clothers were in there. The hip was giving me trouble to begin with but it came that way. Didnt seem to do anything wrong until it came time to put morph targets on it. The light and cameras I have no clue why they had them. I didnt touch the lights at all and the cameras I just moved about ... Thanks and I will let you know if it works ... If you want I will even call him scott but since he is an ugly troll I dont think that will be that nice .. Laughs Thanks again

That's ok. Besides i'm a little skeptical about this one working because it asked me to find GetStrings(don't remember). I've never seen that before. So it will be a minor miracle if it opens for you. ScottA

It didn't ... I have no clue what happened but thanks anyway ... Well back to square one and thanks for the help anyway Scott ...

Scott, I currently can't connect to your link, so I can't test it myself. Your "GetStrings" error sounds very interesting - it points to a possible damage in Ghostofmacbeth's Poser. Could you try to re-do it, and tell me the exact codes (two numbers). I can then check what it asked for.

AAARGGG! stupid Fortunecity. They killed that file awfully fast. It got wiped out because they don't allow remote linking. It doesn't really matter anyway. The getstringres prompt popped up using Ghost's .PZ3 file not my new one. It asked for that like it was looking for a texture and I've never seen that before. I didn't get that anymore after I deleted all of the hip morphs. But I couldn't go any farther with debugging it because there's all kinds of custom folders and geometries you need to have on your HD to open it. ScottA
