Subject: Cloth room and clothing question

Hello, Does the dynamic clothing in Poser5 need to be clothified? (Is that a word) Here is the reason behind the question. I applied long summer dress. Tried the Walk Designer. Judy ended up half out of her dress. It didn't stay conformed or parented to her. Then, I went into the cloth room and clothified the dress. I hit "create simulation" and then "play simulation" This time the dress slowly slid down to the floor. (I used the default settings because this was a tryout) Earlier, I saw Nerd's wonderful work, so I know it can be done. I will be glad when someone can start doing tutorials because I haven't posted to the forum this much since I got Poser4 when it first came out. Bill

When you do the simulation properties, did you set it to drape? It sounds like you didn't. I did the same thing, too. BTW, has anyone successfully gotten Don's swim trunks or fleece shirt to drape? Everytime I try it locks up poser. He can wear other clothes (Judy's, hee hee), but not his own.

Yes, I've been play with the cloth room and you do have to clothify the clothing. this is want I did. I setup my sence with amination with Judy and summer dress. I went to the cloth room. 1) add Sim. 2) Clothified Summber dress and add Judy in Collison objects (Judy). 4) I then run Calculate Simulation because I thought CL did the grouping on the dress and it worked great. I change a couple of thing on judy in the last frame (like Big in rCollar/lCollar) and rerun the Calculate simulaltion...work great. back to playing send more food, water or coffee :) thebert

If the dynamic clothing is not working make sure it's parented to the hip from zero position.

I tried all the suggestions and it worked fairly well. The only trouble I had was the shins show thru on the walk in certain places. But I am sure there is a fix for that. I did the pareted to the hip, but I am not sure what "from the zero position" means. But it worked except for the shins. Thanks again, Bill Soon, I will be ready to venture into the "Material Room" Small steps, small steps

Ensure that the figure's IK chains are all turned off. Then go to Window/Joint Editor and click on the zero Pose button. Now when you load the Prop clothing it will fit. They are smart props parented to the hip.

Regarding the shins breakthrough try selecting different collision detection settings. I don't think there is going to be one universal works every time setting. We will need to learn what each does by experimentation.

I guess I am a slow learner. I forgot to turn the collison "on". I did that and now no shins breaking thru. It fact, it looked might darn good. (for me) Thanks, Bill
