Attached Link: Need help with transmaps I think.

I was wondering if there is a tutorial on how one uses transmaps...? Are transmaps only something that comes in poser 4? Because I have poser 3 and cannot for the life of me figure out what the deal is with transmaps. Also...I have downloaded several dresses that are suppose to be used in poser 3...however they are only jpgs...I converted them to tiffs and tried to use them as textures...but LOL they are not dresses then they are like stratch suits. Please help if you can. Thanks Caz

Sorry, I believe only Poser 4 can use transparency maps. While I think some people have found work-arounds, you won't be able to use the maps you have in their intended manner.

Thanks for the info josiah, is it possible you might have an answer for part two of my post? Cazcie

First the bad news : the textures you downloaded are for a mesh dress, probably a posable one. You bring in and pose your figure, save the pose, bring in the dress and apply the same pose to the dress. If you know where you downloaded the textures from, you might find the dress to match at the same site. Now the really bad news: Poser 3 cannot handle transparency maps at all. Someone (and I think it was Jim Burton) did have a work around. Paul

The only workaround I've seen was by PhilC, as in his Karlie and Micra characters. Basically a fine solid/transparent checkerboard that works at some distance. Go for v4.0x. You get Spotlights and Magnets, too.
