Subject: Asian Eye Morphs in P5?

Basis3D ( ) posted Thu, 12 September 2002 at 10:16 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 6:45 PM

I've always been disappointed with any attempts in P4 to create asian-looking eyes. Nothing I've seen seems really convincing. Can someone please post a P5 example of either Judy or Don (or Vick or Mike for that matter) with asian eye morphs? TIA :-)

Thanks! That's getting closer to what I think are convincingly "real-looking" asian eyes. Of course there's lots of variance between asian people (thai, philipino, japanese, chinese, korean, etc.) but what I'm really looking for is a much slimmer (vertically) eye shape that has a much more distinct curve at the outward ends of the eyelids. So far I haven't found any Poser examples that really look "convincingly" like the asian eyes i see every day on the street in "real" asian people here in Los Angeles. I haven't it seen it as of yet in Poser. The eyes should NOT look so "round" like American eyes do. "Real" asian eyes are much slimmer ... horizontally. Do you know what I mean? Have you ever seen a statue of Buddah? THAT'S how "real" asian eyes should look! I've never seen that in a Poser render!!! Thanks again! :-)

yep i know what u mean but my korean ex fiance had eyes like that hehe ill tweak her n see what i can do :)

I agree dkal, From what I have seen the folding eyelid seems to be whats missing (at least for some asian eyes). The Bhudda eyes (almond shape) should be reasonably easy to to (as shown by Wladamere) but I think it is the light crease in the eyelid just above the eyelashes that are harder to cover off convincingly. Please post if you find anything good. My fiance is Burmese (major Bhudda eyes on her) and when I get the guts up to buy P5 I would like to see if I can recreate her look.

Maybe that's it! Maybe there's not enough mesh to reshape the eyes properly! Can anyone from Curious Labs confirm or deny that??? :-)

Heh, my bad. What is the format for attached images in this forum? - where is that damn help file when I need it...

Regarding the link musicat posted: Why would anyone want to have their eyes look more Caucasian? I'd love to have the eyes in the "before" picture! Sigh

here is next attempt :P cant get em exactly right which is a bummer i wanted to do a self portrait of her for her bday in nov but ill keep tryng anyluck in the p5 side of things?

Tinman1 ... I think jpegs work as message attachments. Crescent ... I agree with you. Asian eyes are beautiful and I wish I had them myself! :-) Musicat ... I empathize with you. So many stupid rascist biggots in this world! I've never understood why. Thanks for the links. I'll try them out in a minute. Wladamire ... thanks for your second attempt. It's definitely closer to what I think look like "convincingly real" asian eyes. I think the eyes still need some subtle shaping though which might not be possible because the mesh apparently might not allow for it. Wish someone could confirm this either way. So far nobody who has P5 has submitted any images but I suspecct that the asian eye morphs really aren't any better in P5. I'm on a Mac so I won't really know until they release P5 for my platform. Thanks again everyone!

Unfortunately, from what I read in these message threads it seems as if the eye morphs for Judy and Don are even more limited in P5 than they were in P4. A step backward. :-(
