Subject: Making gravity work on P5 hair... how?

Nate ( ) posted Sat, 14 September 2002 at 7:00 PM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 6:33 PM

So far I have had no success at all in getting the gravity parameter to do anything on P5 dynamic hair, or hair created in the hair room. If gravity is in effect, having a person with long hair bend at the waist would make the hair hang toward the ground, right? No soap. Anybody have a way to get this to work? thanks.

I had problems with the dynamics because I didn't spend much time with them... I figure they're a bit more complicated than most things I'm used to, which is a lot. My first suggestion is to have the entire scene set before adding dynamics, then go slowly, adding them in increments to see how it "takes". It will take a while to calculate repetitively until you get the "feel" for it, I think. My second suggestion is to "clothify" the hair in the cloth room, if that's possible. I haven't tried it yet, but I think it's a worthy experiment. :) Paul

When you first go from the hair room to the pose room the dynamics is set to zero for the hair. After you bend your character at the waist, select the hair and click the arrow next to the dynamics dial. In the menu that opens, click "Recalculate Dynamics." Then wait. But be carefull. I had the ponytail prop on a character and bent him at the waist then bent his head down further to see if the ponytail would hang straight down. After I clicked "recalculate dynamics" the danged ponytail flew right off the head and hung in the air about three feet away. Ha! Silly me!
