Does anyone know of any good tutorials or reference books that might help me really understand what I'm doing in the Materials room? Right now I feel like it's just trial and error, and if I create a good texture I'd better save it to the library, cause I won't have a clue how to recreate it! Thanks for any tips.

We're working on it. Everyone is still learning. Even the folks at CL are still learning, in fact. But they have already started uploading some tutorials at curiouslabs.com, and people here have been sharing the new things they learn. A few kind-hearted folk will be collecting the tips that are posted here for display at a central location. So keep your eyes open It's coming. :) Phoenix

Also try a general search on the web (yahoo etc.). I found a lot of good tutorials and info a while back (pre-P5) that were very much applicable to P5, since the implementation is actually fairly standard throughout 3D applications. Bill

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll check out curiouslabs. I've already done a web search and found some tutorials for ray dream that I was able to use.
