I am planning on entering this in the march contest. How does this look? It is a revision of the pic that was e-on picture of the day. Marge

I meant input. The spelling portion of my brain has gone to sleep today. Marge

I tried the haze and blurring it,the caustic waters, the underwater tutorial, I even tried putting a sphere of water around the camera. I lost everything behind the tentecles of the squid. I am open for suggestions as I would also like it to have some water effect but still be able to see everything. Marge

Hmm, not sure what else to say, but it needs depth and particles, at the moment there isn't enough water essentially, are you using the full version? Make sure you render at Broadcast to get the best possible picture (Ultra if you've got an insane computer)

hmmm... the causic water doesnt seem to be making the little light wiggles on the sand... isn't it supposed to? try making the material scale smaller. also, mess with the transparency fade/murky settings. turn up the murkiness until the far stuff gets bluer and less distinct. you can also try different blues if you dont like the default one, for the murky colour. maybe even change the clear from sea green to a more cyan blue.

I am using the full version and it is an ultra render 1 hr 20 min. Bloodsong I tried the caustic water but this isn't it I am going to fiddle with the trans fade/murky setting to see if I can achieve the look I want. Thanks for all the input I really appreciate it. Marge

Don't laugh but my caustic water is defective! The material thumbnail looks right, but there is no map or anything to make the caustics. It just renders like plain water. I dunno if I screwed it up somehow or what, but I haven't felt like reinstalling Vue just for that. Gail

Silverbranch go to your material editor and double click on the transparency ball use any of the patterns in there and make your own caustic water, don't forget to play with the transparency filter also. I made some great caustic water experimenting tonight. Have fun, Marge
