Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 8:11 pm)
So now I'm confused. I've been working on models of geodesic domes (Dome 4.6 (FAT)==>Meshwork==>.DXF) rendered in Poser, and the first time I rendered after paying the Meshwork shareware fee (to remove the <20 faces limit) it come out smoothed and I was completely flummoxed. I tried again the next night and got a nice faceted shape, and have since. I'll have to go look at this 'Weld identical vertexes' thing. (btw, when I sort some things out I feel almost obligated to post some dome models.)

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but I've only just discovered it, and I've never seen it mentioned in any FAQs. I was fed up with poser smoothing all my imported objects, so I set out to find out why. Was it a setting in a pp2 file? a strange material in a CR2 file? Nope, nothing so complicated. Every time I import an object, I have the "Weld identical vertices",box checked simply becauseit seemed like a good idea. Uncheck the box, import the object, and Voila! a perfectly unsmoothed object! Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know, but its been bugging me since Poser3, so I assume there must somebody else like me out there who is pulling his/her hair out over this. all the best, Dal
