Subject: Confused semi-but not quite newbie

I've had P4 for about 6 months, but haven't really started getting deeply into it until the last two weeks. I've gone through the tutorial several times, but when I try to use what I've learned in the tutorial in the real world, I just end up with a big mess. For instance, I've got a figure mostly designed, but 1.) I can't figure out how to lengthen/shorten the hair, and 2.) Every single time I try to put clothes on the character, either the whole figure disapears, the section of the body I'm trying to clothe disapears, or the everything BUT the section of the body that I'm trying to clothe disapears, however the clothing STILL doesn't show up on the part that is still visible. My next door neighboor asked what we were building in the house, because of the constant pounding sounds. She didn't believe me when I told her it was my head bashing against the desk in frustration. I don't know how much more punnishment my desk can take, so any help or ideas here would be appreciated. Thanks, jdj

Hi first off I couldn't get that ... clown to fall in the right place either (lol) what are you using for hair? I think most people give up on the hair that comes with poser try going to http://digitalbabes2.com/ and check out some of Koz's hair, some of them come with morphs for hairlength etc. The other thing, and i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong I think what you have to do is cloth the figure in its default position and use (conform to) from the menu bar to attach to the figure you may have to use the scale dials for the item to tweak the fit a little though. one other thing I have found when posing the figure I find it best to use the dials rather than the tools, they do still have their uses though! The other biggie is at the top of this page there is a link for tutorials go through them and see what they tell you they are all written by some very knowledgeable folks sometimes with years of experience in various packages and techniques. well I hope this helps and hope the head and desk get better soon! Load the figure. Then load the conforming clothing item (it's another figure, so use the double check marks to load it, not a double-click). If the figure is at its default size, then all you need do is select "Conform to" from the Figure menu. Make sure you have the CLOTHING figure selected when you do this. Hair is an art in itself. I use Confusius' morphhair 2 a lot and some of Koz' stuff. Brycetech also has some transmaps for the standard P4 hair in their tutorial section.
