I have Virtual PC windows 2000 for my Macintosh I installed poser 5 (since curious labs has left Mac users in the dust on this one). I cannot get it to start it gives me poser exe. error. Does anyone know or have an idea how to fix this problem. And yes i contacted Curious labs on this one and they won't help me.

So, is this a problem with registration or installation after registration? Just curious. I've not bought license to Poser5 yet.

Virtual PC is normally not supported by most companies. When you choose to put a PC program into VPC you are really taking it into your own hands to do so. I have a Mac and have had VPC. It is a crapshoot at best, so I choose not to take chances with an expensive program. I also always call a company before hand. Most tell me that they will not be able to give me any technical support if I choose to try it. I hope you can remedy the problem. I recently purchased a PC to do some cross-platform work, so did not have to make a choice. Cris

I have found from past experience that there are a number of programs that don't work on VPC. I have a PC card in my Mac with has its own processor and memory. Its something like an AMD (?) 400 or 450. Which is too slow for things like clothify (it'll do it, just takes a fair amount of time). So at present, have P5 on my brothers machine until I can afford a PC.

Like Mimic, the problem may be with the program's security system. I posted this earlier, haven't done any further experiments: "Knew the protection scheme would probably doom the attempt, but I tried to install my P5 on VirtualPC98. The autorun wouldn't. Got farther when I copied the startup .exe into the shared folder, but it failed part way through the installation. Might be that there wasn't enough space available on its virtual disk, I'll try again sometime. Am curious if it will generate a challenge code." Meanwhile, stuck learning P5 on my (blaach) PC and waiting for the (improved) Mac version to begin doing real work in P5.

VPC has the potential to make it possible, but practically, VPC is a no-go for most of the 3D apps I know in the PC world. Plainly said: it sucks. Don't ever think your going anywhere near trying to use your favorite 3D prog on a simulated pc: it just doesn't work, period. Or expect to tear a lot of hair from your scalp, and give up screaming and ranting like mad. Continue playing with P4 instead, and keep on rolling with your Mac. PH PH
