Subject: ARADTech a question

Attached Link: .

Is it possible to use flash to create a texture generator. Check out my link for an example. Select the lips. Select the eyes. Select the base skin tone. etc. Use these selections to open a new window say: 2000 X 2000 With one layer for each selection. Base skin tone on the bottom, then work your way up. You could even mix layers by adjusting the opacity of a layer. The base layer could be 2000 x2000 The lips could be a smaller transparent gif placed over the mouth. The eyes could be another small pic where the eyes are supposed to be. After all the layers are loaded you just right click and save the new texture. question: Can you selectively load JPGs and GIFs. I have more ideas, but I want to hear if this is possible first. smerc

you could definately do this with generator

Actually, I believe the only way to do this would be with Generator. You could try using a CGI script or ASP but that would require a LOT of work and time. -Sanv

Let me clarify and correct my previous post (I just looked at the Flash you had up :) Everything you wish to do would be very easy except the right click and output to JPG part. To selectively load the layers you could set up different movie clips inside the main timeline or, if you wish to decrease the size, you could do the "Load Movie" action. Hope this helps. Email me if you need further help. -Sanv

You would have to use generator like fur said, but it is for sure doable and looks like a great idea ;-) Chris

Oh and the best way to do it and keep the file size down would be to use the tell target , loadmovie command. Chris

Aradtech's replys are almost identical to mine! In fact we both posted two messages each one after another to answer one question. I guess great minds do think alike :) -SanV

Ok, sounds like it would work. Is Generator the same as macromedia Flash? Can you give me a quick example on how to load required images. For example: Based on my selections I wish to blend: AsianBaseTexture.jpg Then BlueEyes.jpg then RedLips.jpg How would I load them and indicate what layer they should be on. keeping in mind there might be other jpg layers I do not want to load. If you can not right click to do a Save picture aS. How would someone save the texture after it is created? thanks smerc

smerc ( ) posted Fri, 24 March 2000 at 11:45 AM

I guess no one can post just once here. You could use print screen to capture the finished texture. Do Macs have print screen? smerc

sanv ( ) posted Fri, 24 March 2000 at 3:52 PM

Yes I believe Macs do have printscreen but I doubt anyone would want to printscreen, load a paint program, crop, and save the image. Too much of a hassle. Generator is almost like an addon for Flash. It can dynamically create images and other information. It can also access databases (so you could do a Weather forecast that changes dynamically in Flash). Check the macromedia site for more info. -SanV

i wouldnt say generator is like an add on for flash. the generator development tools is like an add on for flash, but generator is a server app, that runs like $4K/CPU!
