From what I've heard from the admins, selected areas of Renderosity are being moved to new servers. Some of the images haven't made it over to the new servers at this point but will get there by the time the upgrades are finished. I can't say for sure when this will all be done since there has been no word yet. I'm certain there will be a general announcement when the upgrades are completed. If at that point you're still having problems seeing your images please do contact a mod or admin about it. bushi R'osity Mod

Oh boy! I feel sorry for the other artist she deleted all her pics thinking they were corrupt.....I'm glad I ask first before doing the same thing...Maybe R'osity should put something on the front page about that so people don't panic and start deleting like crazy:)) Thanks for the Info Artistheat

Hi all :) Yes, the weirdness you are experiencing is due to server upgrades and data moves. It's been posted about all over the place a lot lately including the front page, forums and here. We really hope it will be done soon and that everything can return to normal. The team performing this task is especially wanting that!! Just a little more patience :) and we will soon have a smoother, faster site!

Just a little more patience :) and we will soon have a smoother, faster site! okay, the gallery pic of mine that got corrupted took 3 weeks to complete. when i first brought it up.....one of the renderosity mods said i was "wasting bandwidth" by posting it in the poser forum.... hey, now....i know the poser forum gets the most hits, and, i wanted an answer. didn't get one. that was early on in this site "upgrade". finally, i did get an answer....i think 'twas from audre....telling me that i must have uploaded it that way. well that graphic rated a "10", or excellent by our new "standards"...by alot of viewers. no one, including myself, noticed anything wrong with it....until the first bit of renderosity "upgrade". word to the wise....keep copies of what you posted here. this place is not really stable.

Renderosity hosts your works here and is not designed to be your one stop storage shop! Please don't scare me into believing that the artist's who upload their wonderful creations don't keep copies of them AND backup copies of them! OMG!!! I would not ever recommend even relying on your own hard drive without having a backup of your work saved elsewhere! (such as zip disks, CD's, etc.) Computers, servers etc. are all just machines that can and do break and fall apart! Poppie, I remember reading your post about that corrupted image and yes, the problems have been going on longer than any of us have wanted them to. In fact, I think I can speak for everyone at Renderosity when I say that No One wanted any problems... but, since we have them, there is a team doing the best they can to fix them. So, please.... Just a little more patience :)

In netscape I can view my gallery & all the other gallleries without a problem. I can't see any of the gallery graphics using IE. For some reason it just doesnt like them pulled from /photos/GAL_200209/. In IE I just get the dreaded red x. So for a while there I thought my entire gallery was nothing but the one collection of little red xs.

Okay.. a few of mine are missing too.. (my images are archived on hard drives and burned to CD's too..:) so I will wait for the upgrade to be finished before thinking I should re-upload.. Just be sure to let us know when to do our final check at our end! :) Lyne

Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!

firefly ( ) posted Wed, 25 September 2002 at 7:34 PM

Thanks for your understanding Lyne :) Don't worry, I'm sure the team will shout from the roof tops once this task is done!!!

Some of mine vanished and then a couple came back, a couple didn't. I just used the Edit and reuploaded them and all is back to normal...One of the admins I think said that was the thing to do if you didn't want to wait for the update to finish to get your pics back...

firefly ( ) posted Fri, 27 September 2002 at 11:23 PM

What you did is quite good ShadowWind, it does certainly save time waiting for things. Thanks for your pro-active action :) And, your patience and understanding :) :)

I asked the same thing a month ago and most of the images of mine that vanished are still gone. What I'd really like is a heads up on this server upgrade thing. How far along are they? How much longer before completion? (just estimate) Simple questions Right?

firefly ( ) posted Sat, 28 September 2002 at 10:06 PM

Seemingly simple yes :) I'm estimating about a week but, I'm not on the team working the servers so may not be the best judge. In the meantime, please feel free to repost any images that had vanished and save yourself some waiting time :)

ShadowWind ( ) posted Sun, 29 September 2002 at 7:31 AM

Don't repost them, edit and reupload them. That way all the comments and statistics will stay intact...

Excellent advice ShadowWind, something I didn't even think of :( Thank you very much
