I'll third it! People who post free stuff are wonderful. Some things are so good, you wonder why it isn't sold. Add to that the need to find and maintain a download site, the effort to make the freebies, and the hassle of making them just right. Of course, the best way to thank someone who posts a freebie you really like is to buy them something off of their wish list, or give them a gift certificate to Daz, or buy them a PoserWorld membership for a few months (in my opinion the best gift to give). I try to do that every few weeks for someone who's done a lot for the community (as I have the cash). If you're short on cash, send them an email thanking them for the item. If they sell something here, look at their for sale items. I'll bet they've done something that you'll just have to buy.
I'll chime in too. Those wonderful people who make all the freestuff have literally made what I do possible for me. If I had had to learn to model everything I use from scratch before building any scenes, I'd probably have only done one or two at most by now (and would certainly have been totally shorn of whatever few shreds of sanity I currently have left). Profound thanks to all of them.
Yeah, thats true. I feel kind of bad downloading free stuff, then the person didn't have his info in there, and you can't give them credit, but oh well. It's been a big help in things that I do, especially when they say it's ok to use in commercial scenes. I'm not getting rich off of it, but lord knows it can be a real time-saver for those of us who are not great modelers.

I download almost everything in freestuff. And I greatly appreciate all of the hard work by the artists who post free models.
However, I use perhaps 0.1% of the freestuff items which I download.
Frankly, I don't have the time to take a thousand free items, unzip them, install them, and then place them in complicated scenes. Other matters occupy a day. Like learning my way around Poser 5.
But, no doubt about it, the freestuff items are a large part of the reason for the success of this site.
So, kudos to all of the freestuff contributors. You are a vital part of Renderosity.
