I just got Poser 4 from a friend and therefore have no manual. How exactly do you switch the character from male to female?

You send him to Sweden for a sex change operation? :) First, the manual comes on the installation CD and, I believe, is copied into your Poser 4 install directory as "Poser 4 User Guide.pdf". Second, you have to open up the Libraries on the right hand side of Poser (little knurly thing), select Figures, then choose from what it available: Nude Man (Dork), Nude Woman (Posette), the kids, or any of the clothed-figure variations. Either double-click on the image or click once and hit the double check mark at the bottom to "Create New Figure" and the figure will be added to the scene. HTH, Kuroyume

The big question is whether your friend sold you his copy. or whether you posess an illegal copy of their assumeably registered software. Illegally copying of software is frowned on around here and you won't win many friends if you posess such. a new copy comes with a very good manual which will answer most of your questions and I encourage you to buy it.

Helpfully, the manual is included on the CD. Unhelpfully, the manual isn't very useful, or at least, I didn't find it to be. Once you've got to gips with the basics, check out the tutorials here-- right under the changing advert, click 'tutorials'. There is a wealth of information there. But dn't hesitate to ask if something is giving you a headache.

What happened to his manual? Have you tried to register the serial number with CL? Did you get two CDs and how are they labelled? If you have a legit set of CDs the manual should have been installed with the program. If you have a rip, you might not have a manual and you got cheated.
